Messi

  1. That along with all the tax stuff I can’t understand why he’s ever had a good perception of his personality. Maybe just cos he looks unassuming and small stature? I’m sure he’s * loaded. He coulda played for Barca for 50k a week and saved them and still been loaded

  2. Some right signings but * FFP eh :56:isn’t mbappe wanting away? I think they’d actually do better with di Maria messi neymar front line than mbappe in there balance wise

  3. Reckon a season with Messi would get him right on board again. 3 of them were bosman a though, and the likes of Messi with his image rights pays for himself.

Got to laugh. Allowed his contrat to expire then spent weeks in negotiations over a new deal now in floods of tears he's leaving

Never even heard of Barcelona before messi :fear:

Theyll take a year or two but imo theyll end up a better team without him. He was too heavily relied upon.

  7. Bartomeu really was a crook, allowing the clubs wage bill to be 110% of its income is David Murray levels of incompetence. People could see at the time when these deals were happening they were either dodgy (Paulinho, Malcolm, Matheus Fernandes) or just blowing mental money on guys who don’t fit the system (Coutinho, Griezman, Pjanic). Tbf to Koeman he’s done the right thing in bringing through youth but it’s 2 years too late in terms of having a functioning side that will be able to still compete while transitioning.

Really wish Messi wouldn’t sign for PSG but being honest, all these top clubs now are utterly * morally so it’s just a case of the highest bidder for him and I’d be stunned if that PSG side don’t romp everyone they play this season

  8. Don’t blame him, he’s been carrying them for years now, they’re run extremely incompetently and he gets the blame for so much of the wrongs at the club. Think he’d want to stay if they were run better but it’s got to the stage he needs out, what he’s done for them over the years is staggering of course you’d be emotional leaving.

  9. People said the same about Real with Ronaldo.

Still waiting for him to do this...

    I live in hope!

Honestly though, it could be a blessing for Barcelona. Being able to play without that desire to put every attack through Messi, may actually allow them to play slightly different and to modernise their game. As weird as that sounds - because PSG signing Messi will just cement them as UCL winners this season.

Think Barcelona over the years now still try to emulate/want to play the way they did 10 years ago at their peak with Iniesta, Xavi, pedro etc all there.
Now Messi is leaving, pretty much the last piece of that old squad (Busquets aside) that still tries to play that old way.

Guys like Fati and Pedri will be given their chance to shine for sure.

They’ll need to start from rock bottom for them because with Messi’s image rights and the money that goes along with it away, they’re even deeper in the *. They’ve had bizarre business for years now.

Aye, truly mental how they have managed to let it get to this stage.

Messi salary was stupidly high, but we all know he deserved it in the grand scheme of world football salaries. Best player, best wage and all that.

But the mismanagement to get to this stage where they basically can't afford to have the rest of the squad, without the image rights and all that from Messi is just mental.

Not like they didn't know this year was coming.

Old president has a lot to answer for.

I'd imagine we may see a bit of a fire sale of two or three players - Dembele and Greizmann would be my call to sell. Then somewhat start again with a focus back on youth and the La Masia project

  13. Don't man you'll set me off :55:

  14. Messi also brought in more money than they were paying him, without his wages they are actually worse off.

They need rid of Coutinho, he’s on about £250k a week.

Get rid of him and go all out on mbappe next year to replace the messi brand. If they market it right anyway.

That was sad Barca will take a while to get back on their feet, he was literally carrying them last couple year!

That's the other one! Couldn't mind who the 3rd one I had in mind to get shot of.
Them three out the door will bring in decent money and clear off a large part of the wages and really not be a miss to them.

Trincao (okay out on loan), Fati, Depay, Aguero, Pedri would replace the other 3 I mentioned and offer a different style to the attack

Doubt the Mbappe brand will be anywhere near what Messi was bringing in for them.

Even Pjanic (Who I really like as a player) could be moved on to free up money and not overly affect them.
