You'd be forgiven on that performance alone, thinking Welsh was a seasoned, well experienced pro.

He looks like he's on a mission this season. Hope he keeps this level up.

If he keeps going like he is, then in a season or two, when McGregor will have excelled in AngeBall and may move on for big £, Welsh could well be the standout for captain.

Was brilliant again last night, never ever a free kick last night he clearly won the ball and if that was another ref it wouldn’t have been a foul.

I would have no issues with Welsh being a starting centre half the whole season. He reads the game brilliantly and has that something about him to make him into a fantastic player.

Immense last night, good on the ball, strong in the tackle and very composed. Gave a great interview after the game, sounds totally dedicated.

Thought he played very well, looks a player but we really need experience in that position, would like to see him get game time this season though, thought his positional awareness was good, also composure on the ball.

Said the same last night. Could learn a lot from Julien/Starfelt. Made massive strides in a dismal team last season. Could go far with the right mentor in a winning positive environment along with good coaching.

Future Scotland CB and captain in the making.

Yeah would like to see him kinda drip-fed into the team without heaping to much pressure on his young shoulders, last night's performance will fill him with confidence, for a young player that's everything.

Ange might go to a back 3 to accommodate Welsh. I certainly would go a back 3 to have him in the first 11. Our current full backs are not good enough. It depends if a back 3 can fit into Ange's philosophy

We have just spent £9m on two wingers mate, we aren't playing 3-5-2 anytime soon.

Not for me. He, like our other young players, are only going to develop with regular game time, not the odd game here or there. If he's not going to get that here, as we are bringing in replacements, he should go out on loan, but he needs a run of games at his age to progress.

A loan wouldn't be a bad option tbh, but i'd much rather give him game time playin at Celtic whenever possible, don't think there is any need to rush his development, learning from other players at Celtic and gettin used to the team will be benificial for him.

For me 21 is not a young player that he needs to be coddled. You should already be playing regularly at that age for me. Too often we take the too young, not enough experience approach, but the only way they get the experience is by playing them. Whether it is here or on loan is another argument, but regular game time at 21 is paramount to their development.

Guys good enough to be a main cb. We need 1 other main cb signed now so we have 3 good guys as our injury record is terrible.

Perhaps he's also livid that he didn't get a call up for Scotland and then proceeded to watch the * trash we have at cb

I can see us just signing 1 CB, probably Starfelt, that would mean we have Julien (when fit), Starfelt, Welsh, Urhoghide (jury is still out) and Murray.

I'd be ok with that if it means getting 2 RBs and a LB in now.

Agreed. We've just signed a first team player for us, who scored last night and is only 19. As you say, a move he's got off the back of him playing regular football for his club. The transfer thread is full of young guys we should be signing up who are playing regular at their respective clubs but when we get one through our own academy they've to be loaned out bcos they aren't ready. Welsh is 21 and shown he is capable of making a positive contribution he should be in and around the squad playing 25+ games this season.
