Aye, it's hard to take at the best of times when a player chooses another club over us but it happens far too often that it has to be down to us * about.

 

We definitely do get pipped due to where we are in the ladder but there is absolutely zero doubts in my mind that we're tight, poor in negotiations and * about way too much..

Every transfer that isn't a cross border, loan or Dudu man, drags on like *..

 

Apparently we we're close to signing this guy. We pulled out as soon as Starfelt became available.

Why didn't/don't we pursue BOTH. We still need more CB's even before we sell Ajer.

 

We definitely need another centre back but I think it will be a loan or a free transfer from somewhere. I'd like to have a first choice pairing (Starfelt and Julien) but play Hjelde, Osaze and Welsh in some other games. Need to be able to play the youth in games and trust them. Not just in defence either. Shaw, Connel and Robertson need game time, as does Montgomery, Moffat and Dembele.

 

Starfelt and Davies on loan for a year would be ideal.

 

Celtic are reported to have stopped pursuing Hajduk Split defender Mario Vuskovic as they turn their attentions to signing Carl Starfelt instead.

Vuskovic had been a rumoured target for weeks but it has recently emerged that Ange Postecoglou wants Sweden defender Starfelt, who is believed to be on his way to Glasgow for a medical.

Croatian outlet Dalmatinski report that Celtic's pursuit of Starfelt has coincided with them pulling the plug on Vuskovic, who is now in the crossheirs of Feyenoord.

It's claimed Vuskovic's Parkhead move was 'almost a done deal' before Celtic 'stopped' around the time that the Swede emerged as a target.

 

In fairness, I wanted both but if we are spending big on one target, I would prefer the more experienced player. Agree with the club decision if that is true.

 

I have a feeling it'll be a loan as well but Itakura instead..

Cheaper wages and the City link. I'd like Davies but his wages will be a lot higher and I can't see them doing us a favour whilst their golden boy is still at the Huns..

 

Itakura would be a great signing. Julien, Starfelt, Itakura, Welsh and Hjelde

 

Aye he looks good to be fair..

If I'm being greedy, I'd like Davies (loan to buy) and Itakura (buy) in. Loan some of our boy's out..

Would prefer Davies first with his pace and the balance of being left sided..

 

No chance Liverpool will deal with us when golden boy is at rangers

 

If we get 1 CB signed and loan another...could maybe deal with that.

Time to move onto full backs. 2 of which are needed.

 

Although Starfelt is right footed, I am sure I read he has played as left centre back at both Goteburg and Rubin Kazan so despite not being left footed he’s pretty comfortable there.

If we sign Itakura I think it will be a buy as his deal is up next year unless he signs an extension then maybe a loan.

 

I'd be shocked if the club actually went for a more experienced player, because we normally don't do that.

 

I think with Welsh, Uroghide and Hjelde impressing so far in preseason, we maybe think the next Ajer is already in that clutch of youth. We definitely need some experience in the central of defence with Julien being the only one really.

 

We may well get one or more of them to the same level as Ajer. However, bear in mind that Ajer went out on loan and gained experience. That’s what Hjelde should be doing this season. Welsh I would be keeping and playing, but we need experience to play beside him as Ajer will go.

 

Hjelde was on loan last year at Ross County and has looked good in pre season.
