Think it was @James that said, if this kicks off they will be glorified friendlies with next to no interest. Already splits among the signed up clubs apparently. I can't see it happening at this rate in all honesty, certainly not in August anyway.

Upper championship clubs hoping for an epl boost all for it.
Lower championship clubs not benefiting against it
Spanish clubs not invited against it.
Spanish clubs in their own rich cartel all for it
German clubs against as they didn’t think of it first
PSG hedging their bets as they know there will be an open invite down the line
Pundits upset as it will see their demand plummet
Tv companies unhappy - until they get the ESL contract

That’s what it all comes down to because they are no longer centre stage. It’s crazy how money can make people lose their mind in the space of 24 hours.

 

Whether this goes ahead or not will be down to the broadcasters I feel. If they want to put their money towards the ESL rather than the Champions League and national leagues then that's what will drive the idea into action.

Next would be the players. How many would feel like Ander Herrera and object to the idea of playing in a breakaway league? I guess the ones who only care about the biggest paycheck would sign up for it.
