    TMW site is good at transfers before they are officially announced. i still wait though for the BBC or Celticfc.net to release a statement before jumping up and down.

    its apparently a four year deal and signed for between £3.5m and £3.75m. no mention of how much his wages are.

    He looks a wee bit of a skinny lanky bestard, I thought he was supposed to be a beast?

    I really don't know much about this guy & 3.5million & 20k a week on a CB sounds like big bucks to me!!

    I just hope to Ghod that he's fooking well worth it, big gamble in my opinion (but then again I don't know who he fooking well is!).

    Conflicting reports in the eveningtimes

    CELTIC today denied reports they have finally secured the £3.75million transfer of Auxerre star Gabriel Tamas.
    Sources in France, and in the defender's homeland in Romania, claimed the long-running deal has now been concluded - with the 24-year-old accepting terms on a £20,000-per-week four-year contract.
    But the Parkhead club shot these reports down. Celtic are not only still speaking to Auxerre, but are also keeping open lines of communication with Le Mans with a view to signing their Serbian centre-back, Marko Basa, should the Tamas deal suffer a fatal hitch.

    It's only annoying those that are getting caught up in the tabloid rollercoaster, Celtic and Tamas have both did nothing to stoke the debacle.

    By all accounts he has too many agents and they're a * to deal with but it was always going to take time by the sounds of things. The fact our captain actually mentioned the guys name in an interview would suggest it's close to being completed imo.

    I think it says Tamas is still number 1 choice though and Basa is being looked at as a serious alternative if we don't get the deal we want for Tamas.
