[Spoiler Alert] Sopranos

Funnily enough i'm watching The Wire again after ooft it must be 10 years.....on season 5 so nearly finished it again. Superb show!! If you haven't watched you're missing out.

Was late to the Sopranos and only finished it a couple of months.....again superb.

I can't split either of the above 2 and throw in Breaking Bad too for good measure.

I've watched GOT but in bits and pieces (maybe that was the problem) and personally don't rate it as much as the above 3.

 

Even mentioning Breaking Bad in the same breath as any of those shows should be an instant ban

I enjoyed BB but it’s nowhere near any of the mentioned ones. Far too cheesy at times for me.

 

i suppose i'd be pushing it with adding Better Call Saul then??

Sorry Doogs just cannot accept GOT as being up there with the best,it wasn't all bad bt just got fed up with it...chucked it when the guy got his * chopped off.

to The Sopranos, The Wire I’d add in third place Boardwalk Empire, Steve Buscemi is superb in it

 

Just finished Boardwalk Empire again last week. It’s good but not Sopranos good for me.

 

Aye some * just don’t like that sort of * mate, I used to be one but I’m a heavy GOT fan girl now no gonnae lie

 

Aye thats maybe what it was, looking for more action etc haha. I’ll defo keep going with it as I am enjoying it. I was just expecting like SoA kinda action.

 

There’s pretty much no action in The Sopranos mate

 

I just thought TV show about the mob, should be pretty mental lol! The Wire ended up probably being my favourite and as pointed out it has kinda the same feel to it.

The best is The Wire, followed by Sopranos and probably Breaking Bad.

If you have any of those as your favourite you're probably right, but I think The Wire is the most complete and the most captivating. Although I just re-watched it recently so I'm biased. Soprano's is undeniably amazing.

GOT was exceptional for about 4 seasons, and once they ran out of material from the books it declined, but was still very good. The final season is the biggest piece of * I've ever seen and completely over shadows the earlier greatness of the show. I have genuinely never seen something fall off a cliff as much as that. For that reason GOT has no business being mentioned in the same breath as Wire, Sopranos or BB.

Just about to start season 5 of this and its definitely top tier, fantastic show.

GOT first 4 seasons are as good as anything.

The final season was as bad of an final season as you’ll likely see.

The Sopranos has the perfect ending as well.

 

First four seasons of GOT is some of the best television I've ever seen

Sopranos and the Wire are my favourite series ever. Game of thrones (up until the battle of the *) and boardwalk empire are also excellent.
Just don’t get Breaking Bad at all. Don’t like the whole storyline.

 

Only watched the first season of The Wire and it was incredible. Started the second season and got half way through before I left it alone.

Thought it was pish.

 

GOT should be in a separate Dungeons and Dragons thread and leave this alone for the big bhoys!!

 

GoT is objectively one of the greatest TV shows ever made, completely let down by a dreadful final season and subpar penultimate season. Before that, and the first 4 seasons in particular it's as good as anything else. Better, actually, for me.

The Sopranos and The Wire are two of the best shows I've seen, and I have a hard time picking which one I prefer. Both are slow burners but just incredibly written and acted.

Breaking Bad is brilliant as well. The first time I watched it through I thought it was good but majorly overrated. Rewatched it last year and liked it much more. A level below the other 3 I've mentioned, though.
