would rather potentially lose a goal to a rebound, than a goal to a first time shot at the near post.

Indeed he doesnt risk grabbing the ball. I dont remember him conceding any goal from a rebound tho. He plays from the back and he is very confident in his passes. Also, he can save with his feet, which is a big plus for a goalkeeper.

£3.5 million seems like a fair deal. Lawwell will be negotiating. Anything over £4 million and we're being ripped off by AEK and panic spending. The guy will probably be on about £5,000 a week at AEK. Offer him £20,000, four year contract to help sweeten his move from sunny Athens to Glasgow, he'd be an idiot to turn it down.

I’d definitely be happy with him and as far as holding the ball, it’s my personal preference. He looks confident and commanding and that is what you want in a keeper. As I said €5m doesn’t seem much for a top keeper.

So you think spending over 4m would be ridiculous but would quadruple his wages in the first contract?

Seriously? Highly rated and only 26. 10 caps for Greece in the last two years. AEK number 1 and has played CL football more recently than any of our players.

£4 million would be a bargain.

Doubt you'd be too happy if we were to sell one of our prized assets for £3.5m. Wee bit arrogant that, I think.

This is the attitude that English clubs have towards our players and we always moan.

    Hes their top asset.

I know I'm no financial guru or some silver tongued stud like pistol pete.

But if we are going in at £3.5mil for one of, if not their most prized assets then we'd need to seriously bump up the add ons to make it more attractive to them.

I mean, was there anything in the 20% sell on chatter, if so, given our recent increases in the amount our top guys sell for then that would be fairly rewarding for them.

    £3.5mill up front
    £2mill for 20 appearances
    20% sell on fee

Seems like a start, aek are well within their right to demand more though.

This is the football manager thread right?

If it was Football Manager I'd offer 3 million over 5 years, 1 million once he played 40 games and 1 million once he got another 20 caps!
100% they would accept! ... In Football Manager anyway. :60:

Seen some rumour account on twitter has us almost agreed personal terms. Surely BS as no fee has been agreed.

KT had agreed terms with Arsenal before we accepted a fee

This was exactly the attitude many of the fans had last summer with the John McGinn situation. Given that they have already turned down higher bids from other teams, we are the ones who are lowballing, not them ripping us off.
Teams from Italy and England keeping tabs on him.
Mind AEK put us out the qualifiers.

They actually accepted a lower amount from Aston Villa than they were wanting from us

Aye not sure it's mg the mcginn saga is a great example at all for transfer dealings.

They accepted less than we offered and at the same time never budged once from their £4mill demand. Yet villa came in and first bid was accepted at £2.7mill.

Our board are tight as *, but that deal was never going to happen because Hibs didn't want it to happen.
Not once did they negotiate to £3.5 or even £3mill with us, yet accepted £2.7mill no questions asked from villa.

As for barkas, if they've been looking out bids of €6-8million previously, then yeah we will need to re-evaluate out value of him.
I'm not remotely concerned at an initial bid of £3.4 and £1mill in bonus if its testing the waters.
Knock that to £4.5millioj and £2milliom I'm bonus and that's closer to their own valuation of €7-8million and could tickle their senses a bit more.
If they aren't negotiating at all, then I'd rather we didn't waste our time much more after that stage.

Have we ever had our opening bid accepted?

It’s draining seeing us getting bids continually knocked back.

Appreciate it’s all part of the negotiation process but we seem to drag the * out of things. Sometimes you just need to be ruthless and get deals done.

Actually think we might have had an opening bid rejected
