a bit more variety in the acts rather than just the same old rubbish on x factor

The UN should intervene and stop the genocide of music being committed by Cowell and his mates.

 

The show doesn't bother me as I don't think it has much credibility. I understand that it does give people a chance of a music career who wouldn't normally get it which is a good thing. I just personally don't like the style of music that the winners and runners up usually produce. However, the auditions are usually quite entertaining.

The other thing about is now is how nearly every year there will be campaigns to get an alternative band/artist to number 1 to beat the x-factor. I couldn't care less what position a song gets on the chart. Music is subjective and chart position is no indicator of song quality. All these anti-Xfactor groups do is inadvertently bring more publicity to the X-factor.

 

I agree, it's not like the final product released is to everyones taste, but at the end of the day it is entertaining television on a Saturday night. The fact that people are talking about it means they are watching it, and the only way they will stop making the show is if no one watches it, and it stops making money.

Another thing that bugs me is when people say that there are no real stars made from these sort of shows, which is complete nonsense. Alexandra Burke, Leona Lewis, JLS, Will Young, Susan Boyle, Girls Aloud etc have all made good careers from a show that gave them a chance when no one else would, and that's only in the UK. I have no doubt for example that One Direction will be massive, as will Rebecca, and Cher I believe could become a credible artist in her own right (Labrinth, the producer who made Tinie Tempah's first two singles, and is singed to Simon's record label has expressed an interest in working with her for example and he is a credible musician).

At the end of the day, music like Hammer says is subjective, who is to say that because Matt came from the X-Factor he can't be a successful and credible recording artist. I hate when people listen to metal or something, and then just brush off everything else as '*', it's closed minded and if everyone thought like that then we'd never have anything new.

 

I haven't really been a big fan of any of the previous acts to come out of the X Factor and was really hoping Rebecca wouldn't win due to her being to similar to winners in the past but when she sang Amazing Grace I thought I wouldn't mind her winning, I haven't had a reaction to a performance like that since Paul Potts first sang on BGT, really outstanding performance.

Can't really argue with Matt winning this year and going by his winner's single it shows that he can bring something different from what has came before. I just hope Simon Cowell doesn't give him the usual nonsense that we have all come to expect from X Factor contestants.

 

I was sure I heard that Will.I.Am had offered and it appears to be true, although the sources aren't the best.

I know Cher's not everyone's cup of tea and she's not exactly mine but I think she's going to become a big star, she's moving in the same direction as modern music.
