Jose Cifuentes

Discussion in 'Transfer Rumours' started by Officer Doofy, Jun 22, 2019.

  1. Thought that reps owning a player was outlawed and players can’t sign for English teams with that sort of ownership.

  2. MANCHESTER CITY’S move for Jose Cifuentes is on the rocks — because his club have to pay the player and his agent a huge chunk of the fee.

City offered £2million for the Ecuadorian midfielder, 20, but Universidad Catolica want more as Cifuentes and his representative are due 40 per cent.

Highly-rated Cifuentes, 20, is on loan at America de Quito and starred during the Under 20s World Cup, bagging Goal of the Tournament.

Pep Guardiola’s side has been locked in a battle with Celtic for his signature

Neil Lennon confirmed the youngster was on his radar but the Hoops have yet to step up their interest.

Cifuentes also opened the door on a move to Parkhead and a move to Europe.

He said: “I think that [as you say] it’s a rumour, and as for any contact my agent is handling that.

I understand that there is interest but nothing concrete.

“I want to have the opportunity to leave for Europe.

“Celtic is a big club with everything that they play for. I had heard of the club before [the interest started].

  5. Unless Ntcham leaves i don't see us going for him.

  6. I wouldn't go more than £2.5m for him.

And if Ntcham is staying theres no real need for him anyway.

  7. It's all down to hunger. If Lennon can stick a rocket up Ntchams * then he will live up to the hype. This boy will come in with everything to prove, arrogance free and full of hunger.

  8. correct , we should stick with Ntcham anyway .

  9. Ntcham’s going in January I think, he’ll work till then.

  10. Need to keep Ntcham till summer.

  11. Celtic will need to stump up more than £2million if they want to land Ecuadorian wonderkid Jose Cifuentes.

That’s the size of the bid Manchester City have reportedly had thrown out by the 20-year-old’s club Universidad Catolica.

The champions on both sides of the border are understood to be in a battle for Cifuentes’ signature.

Hoops boss Neil Lennon confirmed the player was on the radar last month but City made the first move with a bid of £2million for the midfielder who starred at this summer’s U20s World Cup.

However, according to reports in south America, his club are demanding a bigger fee as Cifuentes and his agents are due a whopping 40 per cent cut.

  12. If this guy is as good as they say offer 3.5million then his club will get around 2mill for him

  13. Ecuador U-20 star Jose Cifuentes has issued a 'come get me plea' to Celtic after a bid from Manchester City to sign the player was rejected by his club.

The 20-year-old CD America de Quito player, who lit up this year's FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland this year, hasn't been shy in stating his desire to go play in Europe.

Yet a proposed transfer to Man City fell apart at the end of last week after negotiations between the Premier League side and his club side ground to a halt.

proposed interest in securing his signing.

He said: "It would be very interesting to play there, in the Scottish league. I imagine that they [Celtic] are a good team - and I want to be the protagonist in a lot of competitions."

Cifuentes is currently on international duty with Ecuador's U-23 side at the PanAmerican Games in Lima, Peru, with his side playing the hosts tomorrow (August 7). And despite the move to Man City falling through, with his contract up in December, his club president Fidel Egas remains hopeful Cifuentes can still find a move to a Europe.

He revealed to the Ecuadorian media that he knocked back the City Group bid because he didn't want to see Cifuentes move to Europe "so he can play in the third division" in reference to a proposed loan move from City to an inferior club once the deal was done.

However, he reassured the media that he is continuing to work with the player's agent on a possible move for the player to Europe and one that would "benefit everyone involved."

  16. Can't see it happening..

  17. Turnbull didn't happen, Lenny obviously sees it as an area that requires strengthening....

I don't see him joining if Ntcham stays, maybe we can sign him and loan him out for 6 months? (I think Ntcham will leave in January)

  18. I'd take him in a flash. His name is so cool

  19. I dont understand why we dont oull the trigger on this kid.

Surely after all this we've at least had a scout report on him?

3m would be an absolute bargain. This isnt like rafael * were we got hoodwinked by an dodgy international cap... this kid is real deal and represents a significant future finacial return.

But then again... we lost out on mcginn over a couple of hundred thousand, tried to put Rivaldo on trial and wouldnt raise break our wage structure by 10k to sign Craig Bellamy.

    We're a strange bunch alright
