I don't deny that his availability is a major problem; but I wouldn't sell unless we can replace him with the same quality. We missed a fit Tom Rogic badly last season.

Zenit St Petersburg are preparing to table a £9million bid this week for Celtic midfielder Tom Rogic.

It is understood that Celtic are unwilling to tolerate offers for the Australian internationalist who still has four years on his contract for anything less than £15m. There is also substantial interest in the midfielder from an English Premier League side, with Celtic’s resolve set to be tested in the coming days with a formal bid anticipated from Zenit.

Rogic came to the attention of Zenit when Celtic played against them in the Europa League in February 2018. Celtic were eliminated after a 3-1 defeat but it’s understood that Rogic has been on the radar of the Russian side for the last eighteen months.

On the hunt for a number 10, Rogic has been identified as the player the Russians wish to add to their squad but Celtic are reluctant to sell.

Rogic did not travel with Celtic to Austria for pre-season but is understood to be on track to be fully fit for the start of the season.

The player’s preference is understood to be for a move to the English Premier League but with a lucrative contract set to be put before him from Zenit he could have a major decision to make.

Rogic, signed by Neil Lennon in the Northern Irishman’s first stint as manager in 2013.

9m for a player that only does it domestically whenever he is fit is great money. He's recent contributions are replaceable.

 

But SunSport understands want £15m for the gifted Australian star.

Rogic is open to leaving Celtic this summer - but would prefer a switch to England.

As I said in another thread. I am happy to sell Ntcham and Rogic and get £20m to £25m for those 2 to keep tierney.

 

It's got to the point with Rogic where i'd sell him, he's so unfit it's unbelievable. It's easy enough to say we're losing one of our first choice midfielders but he's rarely fit now, and when he is it takes him months to pick up form.

 

We could feasibly raise nearly £50m this summer if

...He gets called up for some insignificant Australia fixture and comes home needing an op. snd 5 months recuperation time.

 

I'd be open to letting him go for all the reasons that have already been mentioned, but he absolutely must be replaced with a quality attacking mid.

 

Love the guy when he’s on his game. Absolute passenger in Europe right enough, would be gutted to see him go tbh but can’t turn down £10m odd for him.
