Petulant tweet and press photos before the medical aside, the club did everything right.

Apparently the loan fee would be deducted from final fee. I think it was fair offer but Motherwell just scared to risk it. If we did end up getting him playing he might not be great or have a bad patch and we'd send him back.

I think he’ll be back before Xmas and continue his form. Well I hope he does for his sake also. Think they’ll still see £3m from us in Jan.

I don’t think that’s the case at all, he’s not going to be back till the new year, so it would be madness to spend 3.25 million on him when he has just got over his operation and rehab.

He could end up being injury prone after it. If we end up going for him again it will be for around quarter of what we offered.

If he was good enough, he would have had more game time.

He was ill when he arrived at the club and he had a season ending injury when arzani got injured too. He got a game here and there, a young developing player needs a run of games. I would like him to get that, I'm a big fan of Eboue.

I’d like to think so. Remember he’s only 19. We need good players for the future.Wish I knew what the exact problem was though

I take it you watched him before he came? He had plenty of time when he wasn’t out to play and wasn’t selected.

Like I said if he was good enough he would have had more game time.

    It won’t be £3million.

We’d have to be stupid to offer that in January.

What do you think would be a fair price for him, if he fully recovers from his injured knee?

Not £3million. We were willing to pay that when he’s just come off a great season, without any surgery.

Surgery, the risk of future injury, 6 months out of football and 6 months off his contract. I think £2million is still more than reasonable.

Noone but us was was willing to take the lunge on VVD after a surgery, if I remember correctly. Or King Henk.... I don't see the surgery as an end of an era, especially for a 19yo. More the end of a phase... maybe his next phase will be a dud, maybe it'll be what pushes him on to better things... time will tell.

Personally, if I was Celtic, I'd pay about 100k to Motherwell now to secure first refusal on him now. That's less than they'd have paid in the wages for his recuperation loan probably... it's a low cost gamble on a potential windfall

I never said we wouldn’t take the risk on him, I said we aren’t going to pay £3million and we’d have to be stupid to do so.

The point i was making is that even if there are tensions, motherwell wont knock us back if we offer decent money, regardless.

They’d be stupid to reject it. £2million in January is very generous.
