Pavlyuchenko misses another good oppertunity tonight but this time he never got a chance to make up for it, bit like Celtics away chances in the Champs League imo, ano its hard to find with our money but we need a striker who doesnt need 2 or 3 chances to get him started in a game of real importance. Everytime Ive watched the boy he has missed an incredible chance sometimes 6 yard out headers over the bar etc...

I think if and its a big if we do get him I dont think he'll be the saviour you lot think he will be

No Pav is a much better player than Harold, and what you need to remember is he is a young guy still learning his trade who has the full hopes of a nation firmly on his young Shoulders. He showed a couple of times last night that he has class but because of how Spain played chances where few and far beween.
Even Zhirkov didnt have a good match last night as sergey Ramos run him Ragged and kept him subdued.

And never forget for all Harolds faults he did win us a Championship.!!!!!!!

in Italy, when there is extreme Ultra behaviour in the grounds, you will see all the players go to the stands to talk to the Ultra leaders. all the players, especially the club captian or players who are diehard fans of the club (especially since the majority of them come through the clubs youth system eg Totti - Roma, Maldini - AC Milan etc) know the Ultra leaders.

what the Russian lads are trying to say is Pavlyuchenko has the same views that Boruc has. that they will stay at the club they're at untill an elite club comes knocking. they are not saying that Celtic is not a better career move than Spartak (because how can you justify that?).

Mate, sorry to dissapoint you, but this is a main reason:Celtic is not a better career move than Spartak!!! Maybe I can compare Celtic with Spartak about the game level, but you league is very very weak. There is no challenge for him in Scotland. Ok, CL, but he gets it with Spartak. I'll try to explain futhere: can you atract real class players from England or Spain to Celtic? No! So why you think that you can atract such a players from Russia?

you've already said that our league is weaker than yours, which is correct. however, our Euopean pedigree is better than all the Russian teams put together. not because we qualify for the CL every year, but because when we do get there, we do something. look at the last two years and 1967 and 1970 for examples. we lost to Porto in 2003 Uefa Cup final. would Zenit go onto win the CL next year after winning the Uefa Cup against the weakest side in Glasgow? no, no they would not.

any player with a footballing head on them would state moving to Celtic would be a better move career-wise than any Russian team. why? beacuse look at how many players have gone through Scotland to bigger and better things? Larsson and Van Bronkhorst comes to mind immediately.

    not so obvious.
mate look how many have gone through rusiian top clubs as well in just 2 years.
Vidic, Pogatec, Cavenaghi all played for Spartak, Shirl from Zenit. 3 brazilians from CSKA have grown to play in their national team. now Arshavin, Zhirkov, Pavlo are all going to join elite clubs.

The top of Larsson's career was at Celtic, and Nemanja Vidic went from Russia to Manchester United, where he plays now. That's briefly. I hope U didn't want to say, that "Scotland is *, and Russia is *"

That would mean you are comparing the Russian League to the English Priemership. C'mon mate, take your furry hat off and have a good look around. Your League is better than ours, our team is better (and bigger) than yours. end of.

i said "moved onto bigger and better things." i've never heard of Pogatec which says it all. Cavenaghi moved to Bordeaux, hardly a big club. the only person who falls into the bracket of 'going onto bigger and better things' is Vidic. one player!

Furthermore, you are speculating on Arshavin (though, yes he will move to an elite club), Zhirkov and Pavlyuchenko. the same could be said of Boruc and McGeady if we were making predictions.

the Brazilians you have mentioned have hardly cemented their place in the weakest Brazilian team in decades (look at results and their fans expectations to prove this).

as much as i dnt like rangers am going to stick up for them here :56:most players probably move to celtic and rangers in scotland as a steping stone we all know that but once they get here most dont want to leave so to say its not a beter career move is crazy celtic and rangers are masive clubs that win things with more fans than most clubs in the world as proved with the uefa cup finals u can go on holiday to holland france spain portugal nearly anywhere in europe and u will defo see someone with a celtic or rangers top. i would say every city in europe would want to see celtic or rangers visit there becuase we take so many fans and spend so much money people constantly bang on about how barcelona, ac milan, inter, man utd chelsea or all major clubs but thats only on the feild if they play celtic or rangers in a major final wee will out number there fans by thousands wee might not be the best teams in the world but i doubt another team on this planet will take more fans to major away games or a major final than celtic and rangers if pavo comes to celtic he will be blown away with the support he gets like most players he wont realise it until he comes to us......hopefully

word of warning rangers will trash ur city!! there scotlands shame!! :38:

The 3 Russians mentioned here are also moving on almost entirely because of Euro08, not their club play.

Martin Skrtel used to play in Russia.

To all other Spartak fans,do you agree with Russian that Martin Stranzl is a very good defender and is worth 4m pounds?

I watched him at the Euros and I was impressed but I we all know that first impressions can be wrong.

I think we should push the boat out for this one. Pavlyuchenko would be sensational for us, a beast of a signing, who would guarantee us four in a row, and give us every chance of progression to the CL Last 8 !!

I would pay anywhere between £8-£10 Million for him. He is well worth it.
    Please * !

Where I am a big Pav fan and do wish he comes to CP you can never tell if it would guarentee you nothing, just look at Bayern Munich when they paid about 30 million for Ribbery or Chelsea for Sheva.
I agree he is the type of player i want to see in Paradise but i worry if he did come too much pressure would be put on his young shoulders. Think him and Skippy would be a good partnership.

Ribery has been fantastic for Bayern though.

yes he has. but richy1888 is saying that buying a player doesn't guarentee success. which it doesn't. Bayern Munich were expected to lift the Uefa Cup, but never reached the final. buying Pavlyuchenko would certainly give us the edge in the title race, even before it has begun. but to say he will guarentee it is narrow minded. he could become injured or not settle.
