There is definitely a challenge. We have so much Deadwood like you said it's not funny, we also have too many players blowing hot and cold and few that simply don't look arsed.

With out doubt he will. His legs might have gone slightly but he has always had that natural ability to score goals.

We are still going for unknowns like Bayo which yes could turn out good but are unlikely to make an instant impact which we are needing!

Okay let's go there. Wage structure is something that develops over time because of a number of variables (personal contract clauses, European football, etc). There will obviously be specific clauses that contribute to that 58 mill total- like increases due to winning the league, winning cups, etc. Flaunting our wage subtotal as an indicator that our club is being properly invested in in the PRESENT moment in terms of bringing new personnel in is genuinely ridiculous.. especially when you consider that guys such as Sinclair, an aging Brown, and many others are certainly on wages that do not match what they are bringing to the pitch.

Add Broony flagging, Izzy past it, Sinclair hot and cold, Mulumbu what was the point? *. Our squad is very thin on quality and consistent performers. Plus all the injuries our back line keep getting..

We will spend * all this window, we are going down the run in with what we have I reckon, we should be very worried

The danger lies in 2 ways ,arrogance creeping in to the club and it staying close enough points wise to have refs make a difference.
There is no way they should be close to us just now ,we have watched them strengthen while we have weakned over 2 years ,they are bringing in experience now in this window ,would i want dafoe ,defo no ,but they have completely different outlook to us which causes us big problems .
They are looking at stopping us now ,they can add quality for a year to achieve this ,they have progressed this year and know the areas they need to add to ,they are Happy to go with loans to achieve their goal.
We are looking longer term and finding that the next level players are now out with our reach so we go younger to develop ,but this weakens us in the short term through inexperience, there has to be a good balance , we have the nucleus of a team but have seen to many defensive changes in the team and are about to do so again ,if boyata is leaving this window for 5 mil or less i would keep to end of season and risk an unsettled player rather than change ,it's not worth the risk .
We need to also remember its easier to chase and have a target than be in front with nothing to push you to greater heights ,we have tried the known striker from england a few times and it didn't end happy , so although they have a quality guy coming ,it reminds me of keanne and bellamy coming to drive us to the title ,both were younger and better additions and they failed , but we have to add a physical presence in the forward area and keep brown ,we also need 2 cb if boyata goes and a rb ,although i would also be happy to give ralson a shot .
I think the break came at the worst time for us giving the media a month to focus on rangers and spin everything they do to a positive ,it's vital we get the players we need soon , i can see 3 players going out to Dubai with the team and a further 1 added in the first week , call it a haunch, fingers crossed it works out .

So they roll out the balance sheets when it suits them, but use it as an excuse to not actually strengthen the squad. A squad I may add they have allowed to be bloated with absolute *. They and you can’t have it both ways. But look here’s some new lights.

If a 36 year old Defoe is enough to start the panic stations whirring, we should have been worried long before now. If they were always a 36 year old striker away from challenging us, the time for worrying/panicking has passed and we've been sleep walking in to oblivion for the past few years.

Or... people are getting a bit carried away by them making one good signing. Our destiny is still in our own hands, if the board/Rodgers/whoever pull their finger out in this window and freshen things up with one or two quality additions we'll pull away to the next level again, if not it'll be a close title race. Ultimately we cannot afford a window like the last one.

Defoe was last good in 2010, why would anyone be worried about him?

Should we be worried? Not about rangers, their defence is still garbage and a 34 year old davies isn't going to massively improve their midfield, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't be worried about our current state. This window really needs to be big for us to push on. Hopefully this is the thread we come back to say "worry about what?"

Our wage bill total doesn't illustrate that our board are doing a good job. Infact quite the opposite, I'd say that they have failed to move on many that are contributing nothing to us, leading to our wage bill being so high. Many of them have been signed by Rodgers so they don't shoulder the blame entirely.

They ARE improving but it wouldn’t have mattered if we had done our job so far and been 10 points clear regardless of them improving.

Whether they are world beaters or not matters not in them being title contenders (when we keep dropping points against the dross we so love to mock)

It's more the speed urgency shown ,it puts down the marker to their fans "we're going for it " and will ramp up the push from fans and fan referees .

Aye but those dividends need to happen. As does Lawwell’s bonus.

Was worried a long time ago and as the season goes on it seems i was rite to worry.
We have been poor for while now and have not put the distance between ourselves and others that we have done in other seasons.

Some on here will not hear of us not winning the league but the reality is we are allowing other teams to catch us by poor displays on the pitch ,bad management by Rodgers and a board who only seem interested in profits .

With the hun so close to us and the way we are playing lately i think anyone who is not worried is in denial.

It would be as genuinely ridiculous to simply increase it. Have you seen the percentage our wage bill is to turnover. Yea the players listed aren't offering the value they once did however their contracts still need to be honored.

Who has said we won't strengthen ? I never. They roll out the balance sheet at the AGM usually.
A squad that's bloated because of who ? The board or the manager/his scouts.. that has filled it with dross, is that the boards fault for backing the manager .. I can imagine if they had not backed the manager. Although, tbh, perhaps that wouldn't have been that bad an idea if we are being honest. I don't want it both ways thanks very much all I would like is for fair and balanced criticism but that isn't something which is ever going to become popular on here but heyho.

This is worryingly spot on. We sadly have to remember the board are business men not football fans.

    They have 2 options
Spend our millions, run away with the league. It gets boring crowds drop off etc
    Or
Spend nothing, save all the £. Keep it close, keep a rivalry keep it exciting selling tickets

It’s up to us as fans to say No * that spend the money or we will protest by not spending our £
