delia and rodgers both said when they came in they wanted to play this high press high tempo style and we've seen the players do it at times usually at the beginning of the the managers time at the club but they always stop playing this way and we go back to a slower tempo, maybe this style needs a constant every couple of years re energising of the playing staff

After the first went in it was game on, so we're not that far away. Until the first goal went in the defense held firm.
When the first went in the heads went down. I'm sure we'll bounce back, but a missed chance to get ahead in the group so we'll need to be winning the home games and what worked early on was one touch football, but you need to take both chances. We got one and clearly we showed we can get at them in the home game.

Well it's Groundhog day. Again. Same old story away from home in Europe. Can't string 2 passes together so therefore we can neither keep possession long enough to give the defence a breather nor keep possession long enough to create any goalscoring opportunities. The team full of players who are either too weak(Forrest, McGregor) or who have no heart for the fight(Edouard, Ntcham). Add in a few players addicted to making calamitous mistakes around their own box and an absence of basic football common-sense(no-one on the posts at corners for example) throughout the side and it's hardly surprising we keep getting beat. Salzburg were a good unit but i'm not convinced they're all that. After all they are a team that has never qualified for the CL group stages in ELEVEN attempts and were put out only weeks ago by Red Star Belgrade, hardly a top team these days. How much is our wage bill again? £50+M? That is a lot of money we're wasting. Unless some proper quality(no more Hendry's or Hayes's) is brought in in January this season is going to be very close to being a disaster.

i hate the way the way he constantly seems to give the ball away when we are up the park by passing straight to an opposition player and he cant get back to defend for his mistake

someone mentioned we spend £59m on player wages how the * can we spend that much and have diabolical players in that are obvious weak links consistently playing for us,,,,, it really is * hour, week, month, year after year in them regards

we obviously have gotton away with it in scotland to a great respect, but the minute we step up a level we lose stupid goals and struggle to compete because of these stupid inadequacies in the team

if one day we manage to get into a european league playing the best of the rest outwith the elite big nation clubs instead of playing scottish domestic opposition which you would think will eventually happen with the way the world is changing under globalisation and financialism unburdened by nation state laws

we wont and cant be run in such a * way

Just seen the highlights there. Seems like 1st half we done alright, unlucky with the offside if eddy managed to keep come back, where to me he should have released it sooner. If that went 2-0, I seriously doubt it wouldve been the utter bent over * pounding it ended.

What really * me off is this whole learned a lessons *. We get hammered all the time in Europe and * all gets learned

got to be able hold onto the ball for periods and be able to pass the ball, bravery and trust in their technique we seem to lack

lets face it our players can believe in themselves when in a full celtic park but when we go abroad the players feel there not good enough and or cant compete for whatever reason

if we were in the epl playing teams with top players every week it wouldnt strengthn our resolve and give the team the belief that they are good enough to compete

its like the players all know the scottish domestic scene is pish and the gap between that and europe is a chasm and they cant rise to that standard especially away from home

There is a break down of their team doing the rounds, showing how much it cost to put it together. Absolute peanuts, even compared to us. Why can they produce confident attacking football like that and we consistently have this in built inferiority complex. All over the pitch they pressed and harassed us in numbers. Tierney had 4 players press him in the corner at one point. We lack bravery and ambition from the boardroom to the changing room. And btw drop the excuse about playing in Scotland, the Austrian league is gash as well.

To a point but never on the European stage we've been pretty poor for a long time now.

Our recruitment has been inexcusable, so much money * up against the wall on dross & guys that barely kick a ball for us. As for the youths, they need an overhaul. Just go and copy everything Ajax do. We need far better technical players coming through, if we can't buy them then we have to produce them. Too many excuses come out of this part of the world. Low expectations and a can't do mentality pervades when it comes to sport and more here.

Embarrassed in Athens, scraped a win at home to Rosenborg, absolutely tore to shreds by Salzburg..

None of these teams are European powerhouses, I’d even hazard to say we spend More on transfer fees and wages than all three.

Your PSG and Barca’s aside we should be going toe to toe with most sides in Europe.

Recruitment wrong, tactics wrong, team lacks depth and confidence.

If we don’t turn this around losing the league to the Huns, Hearts or Hibs could be a sobering possiblity.

They’re not many players in our squad that separate us from the rest right now, we are ordinary at best

Mate with all respect. Additions to the squad we do not need. We have spent 4/5 years filling the squad with additions. We need experience, we spent on French Ed that I was well pleased about. Right now we need about 12 million spent on defence. I don’t give a * about wages. The wages would be sorted out if we had of invested in the team for Champions league qualifying. You ain’t getting into a nightclub looking like a tramp. Midfield will settle once we have a settled defence because at the minute the middle players are chasing back and not left to concentrate on their own job. And where to * is Biton because he is one guy that can take the sting out of a game and get passes going on his day.

cut the squad to 20 25 players with the reserves being our youth prospects and weve been saying it for years we need to play these promising kids in professional games to up their standards yet again, play them in league cup like alex ferguson did down at man utd, imagine the wonders it would do for their confidence if they managed to win the league cup

why do we need 3 goalkeepers when only 1 plays most of the time you may say injuries but then are there not special dispensation rules that mean if your cut short you can buy or loan in that emergency

we need to have players that are adaptable aswell how long have we been saying follow the dutch ajax model where they have for 50 years now have been practising total football and players knowing how to play all positions (except goalkeeper)

in the mid eighties when we were still run in a kind of poor man type of way by the kellys we were without full backs for a whole season think it was 1985 or 86 season, we played tommy burns and murdo mcleod at left and right back, maybe it wasnt a full season my memory isnt the best but they played there a fair bit

in saying all this i think we have had a disastrous start to the season brought about by our current best player boyatas fall out with peter lawell and the upper management this has gutted the morale

apart from last nights game we seemed to be starting slowly to get our mojo back so hope that last nights performance doesnt set us back again

i bet we do them at parkhead aswell :boxing:

Failure to add 3 or 4 quality players to freshen up the squad, and replace those who left has cost us big time.

Defending as we did the first 45 is a must in Europe. * holding the ball if we get torn open at the back. If it is Rodgers that changed things at HT, then it's his bad result.
