What are you talking about? Go back to around about page 66 and see everyone stating how good Sviatchenko was for us.

If I recall correctly, Jozo didnt play as much as Erik because of injuries. But this is a pit of nitpicking and your point is valid: the most common partnership of the unbeaten run was Erik and Jozo. And you are right when you say all our cbs seem to be regressing under our regime and maybe its not their fault.

But this only makes things weirder, because while Erik was quickly ostracized, Jozo, in my opinion a player worse than Erik, remained a big part of the first team squad. Despite all injuries, all stupid red cards, all defensive failures. With some players there is an enormous patience and with some there is nothing.

I take the point that some, even I, believe that we should be getting better cbs than Erik. But for me it's clear he was unfairly treated and we would be better off by playing him than by signing semi pros like Hendry and McKenna, or begging for a donkey like Boyata to stay

And you quoted @PaulM1888 saying he’s a cult hero as proof of that? Aye, so is Marc Crosas. So’s Paddy McCourt.

Was genuinely just looking around the thread at around page 66 and all of these come out at me lol.

Seriously though, I’m not picking at PaulM1888’s stance individually. I just feel that his stance is a microcosm of quite a few people on here - for many of us, he was a massive player but then many just went off him as soon as Rodgers dropped him.

Take a look at the start of the Scott Brown thread, I thought Paddy McCourt was a better centre mid...

Regardless, he’s not the answer and you believe he is so because he’s no longer in the squad. End of story.

Calling him our best centre half, utterly laughable.

I’ve already told you that this ‘statement’ that you are insinuating is absolute pish. I am on the record as saying that Sviatchenko was our best centre back for the entirety of his career here and never wanted him sold.

The truth is that you believed he was a big player for us. Have you ever used any of the lanaguage above with respect to Boyata or Simunovic?

Yes, both. Next time you’ve another spare 10 mins have a look. I’m no different to anyone in my reaction to individual performances!

Fair * if you think he was, I know for a fact you’d be in the bottom 5% of Celtic fans with that opinion.

If we had him and Ajer at the back for those qualifiers we would have most likely went through. Big mistake selling him.

People remember Sviatchenko when he was good. Not when he had chucked it.

It would be like remembering Jozo when he was playing very well and not just now, when he’s chucked it.

He was fairly pish and knew his number was up well before it came and chucked it. Couldn't handle high balls and had to let everything bounce then got caught the wrong side of the striker and gave away stupid free kicks as a result. I like him, but as a CB he wasn't very good for us.

He played against Sviatchenko's Midtjylland (spelling) the year before and knew Sviatchenko was pish, slow and a dwarf..

Our back line was Janko, Ambrose, Sviatchenko, Tierney..

I'll give you 1 guess who out of that list is slow?

Right, but that doesn't change the fact that the goal was ambrose's fault. I'm not saying he was amazing, but I still think we should have kept him.

Shame how it ended for him.

Proper FM signing that I was excited about.

Definitely but just shows the mindset that a 34 year old part timer was basically rubbing his hands together at the thought of playing him..

He was a bad egg as well in my book. Downed tools. Wanted away and talked * in the media and through his agent. Was slow. Rash in the tackle. Too tight. Small. Not great on the ball..

Just because we've had worse and got some diddies in, doesn't change that fact..
