I know we have been linked with this guy in the past, however I was watching the highlights from last nights friendlies and he scored again for Switzerland, he has a phenomanal international goal scoring record.

Anyway I went on his wiki page this morning to see how old he is, and it seems were being linked with him again. Heres hoping its true, hes the kind of quality we should be looking at to improve the team!! And Dortmund are still a shambles they just sacked their manager.

    Here is his wiki page:

Alexander Frei (born 15 July 1979 in Basel) is a Swiss footballer.

    Club career
Frei signed a 4-year contract with Borussia Dortmund on 29 June, 2007. Dortmund paid a transfer fee of approximately 5 million euros for him. From the end of the 2006–07 season he has been continually linked with Celtic, whether this move will materialise however is in doubt after Borussia Dortmund released a statement insisting that Frei would go nowhere, even if a club offered 25 million euros.
Frei was the highest goalscorer in the French league for the 2004-05 season with 20 goals, playing for Rennes and was named Swiss Footballer of the year the same season.
Rumour has it hes off to Celtic this summer.

I think this guy WILL be a Celtic player one day.

We are linked with him every summer(and not in the same way we are linked with every irish player)

hopefully we see a good performance from him at the Euros and give Celtic the actuall evidence that he can cut it at a big level.

he is a good player and would definately improve our team imo. think his record is around a goal every two games for both country and club.

i think he would jump at the chance of playing for us. i'm pretty sure i read last summer that he said he would like to play for us one day.

only stumbling block would be if Dortmund are willing to allow us to talk to him or not for a decent fee.

Why aren't we bidding for him? What's the benefit of just being linked when we aren't actively trying to get him?
We were linked to him once, but it'd take a miracle to get him now...

Croatian teletext and internet portals. Juve has been interested for 3-4 months. Believe, I'd want him more than Japanese players, but he's going elsewhere.

at 28 years old soon I am not sure Celtic would spend a fortune on him. The majority of strikers start losing their edge after 30 so he could have little sell on value. We bought JVOH at almost exactly the same age and I doubt he will be worth much at the end of next season when he is pusshing 31. He cost about 3 million which is OK but I wouldnt spend 6 million or something on a 28 year old striker.
