UEFA Champions League 2018-2019 qualifiers

Discussion in 'Celtic Chat' started by Drakhan, May 21, 2018.

  1. It's one thing to support your favourite club and a whole nother thing to turn a blind eye to the fact that the owner is using the club in order to promote his own agenda. The ultras remain apathetic towards all these staff, just because the owner is investing money for a new stadium/players/whatever. If you ask me, this is hypocrisy at its finest.

No worries in that regard.:) The game is on August 14. The next day (August 15) is sort of like national holiday here in Greece. If you visit the suburbs of Athens on August 15 it's as if you are in a ghost city. Pretty much everyone is out of the city on vacation. And generally speaking, August in Athens is like a dead month. AEK's home ground holds close to 70000 spectators. No way I'm not gonna find tickets for the game.

    Good draw.

  3. So if we get past Rosenborg it’s AEK if we get beat by Rosenborg it’s Cork City in the 3rd round of EL.

im hopeful we can get past rosenberg then eventually past aek

hopefully we get a decent cb and rb in * it cant be hard to get a couple of players in that are decent ffs

we're not * skint are we ? and lets face it were not trying to sign ramos, pique or any other best right backs in the world but reliable decent to good players that can play there position fairly well

  5. Defo not skint unless there is something we are not being told until the accounts come out. I do have a feeling we will repay the full £16m long term debenture go the co-op shortly I don’t see us refinancing it again like we have done in the past.

We might not pay it all but a vast majority plus worst case we only make the EL we will get around £10m off UEFA which is still a 1/3 of what we would get for the UCL.

  6. I am in exact agreement with you on that issue just saying they could easily say to them selves on past results league wise that we are not great

  10. I don’t think there would be as much talk about the Third Qualifying Round if we had drawn the winner of Match X.

We know the identity of the team that we will face if we progress, so it’s only natural that we are weighing up our chances against them.

Few people are taking progression to the next round for granted; most of us have serious concerns about our defence in the first leg. I have even seen people talking about potential Europa League Third Qualifying Round opponents.

  17. Good observation to be fair. Hypocrisy from some. As you say, one game at a time.

  19. Everyone knows the earth is round and not flat. Of course there are a few flat earthers out there - but the statement holds - especially for AEK.

When Linen and Jiminez described AEK as a left wing club - along with the rest of Greece they are not describing 'connections' - they are describing the ethos of the majority of the fans. The Celtic fan on here was correct to identify AEK as a left wing club - they are. the biggest one in Greece.

No no no, that is not how Greece works. I am sorry. Greece is full of left wingers - far left centre left and moderate left. Many voted KKE (The Greek Communist Party who refused to go into coalition with Syriza because they said Syriza was too radical left!) and most those are now Syriza voters. Just because they vote communist - yes 'communist' - it does not mean they are communists. This is because they are hypocrites. They fully engage in capitalism - fully. However they vote in parties that flood the public sector with meaningless jobs and describe themselves as progressive communists - and in that way - they think they are changing the world.. or at least Greece...o_O That is why the KKE has seminars every year (usually in summer) to discuss where the Soviet Union when wrong and how to improve their model! :drag: These people are seriously insane. However - like many normal humans on the planet - how they vote and what they say.. does not usually reflect what they do in practice.. That is why despite AEK being a left wing club - they are willing to back a capitalist criminal like Tiger - to ensure their club has a future. This is nothing new - Syriza itself needs a loony right wing party (Independent Greeks) to stay in power.. Greeks are used to selling out their ideals for power - so are most humans. Syriza itself stated they will make sure Tiger sees a jail cell - the minute they got into power.. :32:

This has nothing to do with AEK being a left wing club. The club at a fan level is run by Original 21 and they are hard left. That organisation is flooded with hardened anarch-communists and they have affiliations with the other nut jobs at Livorno. The only reason I am pressing on the matter is because AEK is clearly left wing - to say otherwise is simply a fallacy. Sure they have some centrists in there number - but the vast majority leans heavily to the left and their banners reinforce that every game. In the same way - Olympiacos leans to the right and has for decades despite the poor area they originated from.

Savvidis is a low IQ hooligan - however if he keeps to his word and builds PAOK and new Touba, I am willing to forgive his loony actions.. The future of greek football will be its infrastructure and the vague hope that the police will actually do their jobs and arrest professional hooligans - many of whom even if they are arrested - never see trial - like those PAOK freaks last season - not one of whom has been prosecuted despite numerous adjournments.
