Brendan Fraudgers!

Discussion in 'World Football' started by Mr. Slippyfist, May 20, 2016.

  1. Desmond didn’t come out and say Rodgers would be leaving, he just said he wouldn’t stand in his way if he chose to do so. It’s a show of strength - “We believe Rodgers wants to stay” - not of weakness. Clubs down south hold their managers and players to ransom over their contracts (e.g. Marco Silva who wanted to leave Hull to manage Everton, or even Paddy Roberts who wanted to leave City and join us) and how often does that end amicably? Desmond has only made clear that we don’t need to do so as our manager is happy where he is.

Put it this way, if Desmond and Rodgers’ comments of the last few days had come in reverse order, we’d all be celebrating them. It’s the same situation and nothing has changed, there’s no need to panic.

    This.

The * wouldn't want him. Not that its there decision but still.

  2. "I don't think you can put handcuffs on anybody if they want to go to a club as good as Arsenal. It will be Brendan's decision and Brendan's decision only."

  3. Don’t want him to leave, don’t think he will, spose if you leave on back to back trebles you leave a legend
If he did Steve Clarke waiting in the wings

  4. I'm not worried in the slightest. Brendan isn't going anywhere, especially that midden.

Brendan is loaded so he won't bail out for the dough, and at the end of the day he wants to go down in history as the manager who got 10iar :shamrock:

  5. I think BR will stay with us.. at least for the coming season.

How we do in Europe next season could have a bearing on his longevity at Celtic but not sure Arsenal is a great option for him at the moment.

  6. Brendan Rodgers to Steve Clarke.

    Wit a * comedown.

  8. I don’t think there’s any doubt as to Rodgers commitment here. He’s said time and time again how much he loves it here, it’s his boyhood club and a dream come true. As it goes...

Brendan Rodgers is here for 10IAR

Reading the reaction on Arsenal Mania, who are the most self entitled fans with no merit in the last few years

Considering Rodgers finished 2nd with Liverpool that’s a position Arsenal can only hope to achieve right now. In any case they would have regular revenue with AFTV slagging him off even if he does win.

Been here a while and never posted so thought this was the best one to start

  9. I’m not panicking and of course nothing has changed, all i’ve said is that was just all about Desmond getting his face in the news. If it was just about the club not standing in the way of Rodgers it would of came from Lawwell.

  10. I hope I'm not exaggerating when I say that Desmond comment is bogging. You'd think it was Real Madrid or Barcelona we were talking about.

Another * who falls under the spell of that league.

  11. Yes despite what we all think and know the bell ends down there in England still have him down as someone who had one good season at Liverpool then went * soon after, what he’s done at Celtic since means zero to them as they are a bunch of arrogant clueless wanks, for the record I think he’s ideal for Arsenal but already one of their high profile fans Claude was on Sky earlier rubbishing him, he won’t be alone.

He should stay here where he is loved and appreciated and he’s right to say there’s much to do and I believe fully he’s the man to achieve it, the fact is nobody has a clue and cant hand on heart say they are confident he will stay, I personally think he will stay and probably for 10IAR but if you were old enough to have lived through that fateful day with Judas you would never like me again say you are confident of anything in football, there are many factors in play that none of us know about let alone be in a position to speculate on

  12. If Desmond was approached by the press (I don’t know if it was in person or the circumstances) then he had to say something. I highly doubt he went phoning anyone in order to make a statement and get “his face in the news.”

If he hadn’t commented then the press would have ran with a story based on that (“Celtic majority shareholder refuses to deny Rodgers’ link to Arsenal”) and filled in the blanks to suit their own agenda. Someone in his position can’t really win.

  13. He's not going to Arsenal

  14. 3 seasons away from the 10, I would be * raging if the board cheaped out on the next manager.

  16. I have always been given permission to speak to Arsenal. Too bad that means * all unless the opposition club ask for permission to speak to the manager aswell

  17. He's 45. Plenty of time for him prove the * wrong.

  18. Don’t like Desmond’s comments.

But Rodgers won’t be going anywhere.

  19. Arsenal and the EPL generally don’t have the same appeal as they might have a few years ago.
Brendan doesn’t need any extra cash and I reckon he loves it here.
Might be a good way for him to get extra transfer money in the summer though.
