I get the feeling it's going to be like Celta Vigo away in 2003.

A * nightmare to watch but hopefully we'll squeak it :giggle1:

Let's hope they're still cold and we can maybe catch on break, but we'll need a possible.tweak to the team for that kind of style.

Just none of that early losing goal pish we're famed for.

Fine a hybrid doesn't have a concrete underlay their more grass than fake grass in a hybrid the real grass roots bind to the fake grass strains that are shot into the turf

If you discount PSG and Bayern, our away performances under Brendan have actually been pretty good compared with previous managers.

Be'er Sheva was nervy but got the job done, Astana both times we got the result and scored, Anderlecht we were brilliant, City we held our own and could've won, BMG we were unlucky not to win, Rosenborg we were solid and scored a great goal.

Quietly confident we can upset the ruskis next week.

I’d expect kranevittar to start, he will keep the ball better and start attacks, need our midfield to dominate like they did on Thursday

Would love to see musonda start after showing what he can do for us in Europe but don't think there's anyone Ye could drop for him. Would be great in place of McGregor but Noway he could be dropped either after his performance. If Roberts is back for this one what way would the bench shape up? Bain, rogic, hendry, Sinclair, musonda, ed and leave PR out?

Remember Sutton saying in commentary that during the group's 5 out of the 6 games Zenit had less possession than the opposition, and I'm assuming the one exception was at home against the Albanians.

So we might see a similar amount of the ball next week. Just got to keep the heid and I'm actually confident we can nick a goal. They seem to be very much a counter attacking side.

Yes, Zenit are very much a counter-attacking team. They had only 30% possession home and away against Real Sociedad in the group stage and won both games 3-1. In the home leg they scored in the 5' and 24' minute, so they're plenty capable of turning the tide of this tie early. Gonna take a big performance for the full 90.

Think its looking good, that winter break zenit have is shoking, not plannd well at all, there treating it like a holiday.Probably underestimated us,dont think thel be much fitter a week on,rome will be a pissup for them. They have all these argentinians & foreigners who cant speak a word of russian, said it before zenit are a team of highly paid underachievers, have been for a number of years.Vastly overated outfit, who have spent a fortune, only spent it very unwisely.Cant see us letting our gaurd down like against sheeva & astana(still done the,job offcourse)think we took our eye of the ball because we had a good lead.1 nil suites us an we wont be complacent.Hopefully anyway.

How many fans do zenit lose with the closure?

I'm hoping we kick on and get a good draw in next round and take it from their making a quarter final and treble would be some a European final and a treble would be even better one step at a time though

Was thinking it would be the same side as the first leg but dont know if McGregor will start. That would be 3 games in a week??
Suppose same could be argued for Kouassi and Ajer but just think McGregor won't play Thursday

I think the game will be fantastic from a tactical point of view due to this. Ordinarily I'd be looking at someone like Sinclair as an outball as we're playing away with a lead. But with them effectively conceding possession and trying to counter, your 5 needs to include Brown, Eboue, Ntcham, Forrest - 4 guys comfortable on the ball however who know how to win it back and slot in defensively. An ideal 5th man would have been Armstrong, though McGregor does do his fair share of pressing.

The first half is one of the most important 45 mins under Rodgers so far. As a lot of people have been pointing out, if we get the first goal Zenit need three. Hope we can settle into a rhythm nicely and hurt them when we go forward, nerves will be shot come kick off time

    Simmer.

They've made it beyond Christmas in Europe in 9 of the last 10 seasons. They are a good team
