Yeah, heard that the Irish Centre is decent in Liverpool. I know a fella who plays music in MM quite a bit as well, but never been in there myself!

In Scotland due to the Scottish Government's issues on secterianism you wont find a proper irish theme bar, tricolours, reb songs on the jukkie, irish food etc. In England it's been watered down due to the Ra's bombing campaigns in 70's 80's etc. (seen as commercial suicide) though they are a few. On the continent they are a joke. In my experience outwith Ireland, the only ones I've seen are in North America, Boston, New York etc.

On holidays a couple of years back and me and the missus and child went into an Irish bar.

It was about 4pm in a Sunday and i asked were they putting the Gaelic on Sky Sports..."Whats that mate?" in a cockney accent.
I repeated myself and he said "i heard you the first time , whats Gaelic" the * said.
The wife had a menu in her hand and i happened to see "bangers and mash"....that was that , up and out.

I hate these types of places.

First time I went to Florida I went looking for an Irish bar to find out if they would be showing the Celtic game that was on in a couple of days. First one I went into, called something like Seamus O'finnegans declan o'shaunnesys

Walked in and the bar tender had on big stetson, they had a few shamrocks, a pot of gold and some Leprachauns.

    * had no idea who Celtic were :giggle1:

Luckily I found the florida CSC not long after.

I work on the basis that if it says 'Irish Bar' outside... then it probably isn't!

Was in the other "Irish" bar near Lucky Leprachaun for the Ireland-France game in the Euros as LL was full. Called Murphys, bartenders were Scottish and there were 2 Hun tops on the wall...

I quite like Biddy Mulligan’s. It does decent food.

I’ve watched Celtic games in there a few times, although I’ve sometimes had to ask the bar staff to put it on one of the screens up the back of the pub because they seem to give English games priority.

Was in a pub in Krakow that was genuinely named ‘Irish Pub’. 2 dour-faced Polskis on the bar that wouldn’t know Michael Collins from Michael Jackson.

They did put Celtic on the TV though, the title winning game at Tynecastle last season.

I was in Portugal a few years back and this "Geezer" in his 60s sidled up to me at the bar. (Hotel pool)Always in Celtic shirts round the pool. So in a cockney accent he started to tell me he was gonna get lynched in the Irish pub last night.
    I inquired as to why.
He pointed to his Para tattoo and said also because of his accent.
I swiftly pointed out he must have been on the wrong night as the barman was an ex cop and Millwall who was complaining about all the Provo Celtic fans over for Seville. And that all the punters in it were English *!

O'Learys in Saint John, the painting of Ireland on the wall not only had the border on it but colored in orange.

The menu had something called black and tan bangers or something like that.

This place was offensive to the senses.

One curious thing I find is Ingerlund fans and many of their club fans always seem to head for and congregate in Irish bars when they go to Europe, inevitably they start all this “no surrender to the IRA” stuff as well, if they genuinely hate the Irish etc why do they feel such a need to congregate in these places when so many other bars exist, I think the ones that took the serious hidings from the Russians in Marseille were mainly done outside the main Irish bar

Remember being in London in the 80s and 90s and going to watch Arsenal and before the game would go to nearby Finsbury Park, was a pub there called the Finsbury Park Tavern where they would have collections for the IRA etc, play the Rebs etc remember even many of the Arsenal fans putting money in, one later told me he was too * scared not too :56::56::56:

Many pubs in Kilburn were the same in fact more so even than that one, no idea if it’s still like that these days, my last few visits to London I’d be shocked if it still was, probably a Halal butcher or somewhere selling skinny latte to the metrosexual crowd at 10 pound a go
