Im making his argument for FIFA and UEFA. Nothing more nothing less.. Figured people would see that instead of throwing things around they dont understand.

 

I'm think of realism Iontach. I think that Artur has been harshly dealt with previously. But he's a clever guy, he knows what he's doing and what he did yesterday was stupid. There are stupid people out there on both sides that will take that and attack people with it.

 

Why change your personality and who you are to fit with bigoted animals who in the 21st century take offense to a picture of a pope?

That is even more of a crime.

 

Guys you can't compare Boruc wearing the Pope on his top to Ferguson wearing something that says FTP or having William of orange on, the only comparison would be having the Queen on it which I wouldn't have a problem with.

Also if Celtic fans did complain about Ferguson wearing a picture of the Queen for example the papers would tell us to grow up yet hurl abuse at Boruc. I hate how the papers make it out that the solution to the problem is Boruc not doing such things instead of stating the true way of stopping the problem which is preaching tolerance.

There's no changing of the culture but deliberatly provoking is a different matter. Artur knew what he was doing by wearing that t-shirt.

As i said, he can't be penalised for it, but he shouldn't have done it. There are animals on our side too. The pope (sadly) is a reactionary icon to some, just as William of Orange is.

ive got to agree with iontach here. the people who have a problem with the t-shirt have to have a word with themselves. the ibrox changing rooms have got photos and paintings of the queen up. what boruc did was no different from what kaka did.

 

As i've said there is nothing wrong technically with him wearing that t-shirt. But really it stirs up hatred. Ask the doctors and nurses that worked last night at glasgow A and E. At the end of the day that is what counts, bloodshed. I don't mind players having handbags during the game, but to think before the game that you'll wear a t-shirt is deliberatly stirring.

no its not his fault its the narrow minded peoples fault (on both sides) who go out and can't laugh things off. but people shouldn't be instigating it.
does that mean artur shouldn't be a proud catholic? no.
it means he should show common sense on when to show his love and when is likly to cause hassle to the narrow minded fans.

He should be allowed to express his views whenever he likes - it's a free country.

 

was this all about spontanious feeling of religion? Noone can prove what his intent was but I am fairly sure it was just windup stuff. Also what kind of christian sets out to stir like that. Arturs a laugh but I never can quite reconcile his persona with this idea he is devout. Just doesnt quite tally. I I hate people who are more interested in denominations. I personally refuse to recognise denominations because most of the folk who call themselves prods or catholics arent really even christian. I am with the French attitude to religious symbols and schools.

i say avoid them.

Martin - some people believe some pretty "weird" stuff in their religion does that mean they should be alowed to flaunt it?

IMO- religion should be kept to yourself, discussed, sure. but flaunting it nope, no thanks. its almost preachy
this maybe because i am in no way religious ofcourse.

 

He is a WUM and I have no idea whether or not he is genuinely devout. And I don't care.

He has a right to wear a t-shirt like that whenever he wants. A fundamental human right. If he is punished for this it is no more than outright persecution.

Everyone knows he has the right to wear whatever he wants as long as its not sectarian but a wee bit of common sense wouldn't have gone amiss.
