reading a piece on the NRA, don't quite understand the sway they have over congress. the funds they hand out to politicians are very small, from $2m to $10,000, even the numbers of members is quite small, your talking a membership of only 4m. the funds they hold is around $400m, but considering they are registered as a charity, it seems they have more powerful backers than your average hill billy gun nut.

This situation completely sucks, and unfortunately, as it stands, I don't think there's a solution that will make everybody happy. I live in the U.S. and as an American Citizen, I fully support the Constitution's Second Amendment right for Americans to lawfully bear arms for self defense and for sport, some may disagree, and that's fine, but that's my personal belief. Do I think people should have legal access to high powered weapons which allow lunatics to pull off what this * did? Well, thats a whole different story. Local gun laws in the US vary state by state and there are umbrella Federal laws which came about after the Brady Bill, which impose limits and restrictions on individuals with criminal records and mental heath issues, which keeps guns out of the hands of many "undesirables" but as has been correctly noted in this thread, it's the gun shows and the second hand market where guns pass hands to people without any kind of vetting. There are millions of responsible, law-abiding gun owners in the U.S. but unfortunately, with the way things are, it is easy for wackjobs to arm themselves and pull this * off. I can assure you, guns will never be outlawed in the US, but all I can do is have hope that something can be done to not have the types of weapons which create mass casualties available to fall into the wrong hands, this is not an unreasonable request, again, this sucks.

Mental how he can get inside a well known busy hotel with a supposed 10 Rifles. I remember watching a thing about the Wynn hotel in Vegas, and Steve Wynn said they had "stealth" metal detectors at doors and ex CIA types at his particular casino and hotel who patrol and check for suspicious behaviour on cameras etc.

Would of thought Mandalay Bay would have had similar security given its popularity, footfall and it being an iconic resort on the strip. Machine guns and especially SAW's etc are relatively heavy to transport around alongside a * load of ammo I which seemed to have been used.
