  1. Funny you said that 2 of my Bananas were far too close to my Steak And Ale Pie the other day:84:

  2. Have to admit the game knocked the stuffing outta me in a way that hasn't happened before, at Celtic Park at least. I can imagine it was equally as draining and dejecting for the players. I've seen us beaten, sometimes even by a few, sometimes our goal is pretty much under siege, but I've never seen that. I don't want to go on about it too much but to be honest, I was blown away by how good they were.

They're like a ruthless, ultra tough defensively and more efficient Barcelona. Not as dominant in possession or quite as stylish, but man they're absolutely murder to play aginst. I had been looking forward to the first group game since we made it through, but within 30 minutes they were out of sight and in all honesty, playing at a different level to the extent it may as well have been a different sport.

We need to move on though, important fixtures coming up and Anderlecht away is a much more realistic test, one that I know the players will be motivated for.

I'm still kinda shook at how * good they were. I feel a bit like an assault victim :giggle1:

  3. The thing is, I've seen us play * worse than that in the CL and have the rub of the green that night. They were * ruthless though, only time they weren't was 10 minutes during the 2nd half when they missed 2/3 sitters.

  4. Pleasantly surprised about PSG's fans, thought they would have * fans like City, but they actually seem to be good sound *.

  5. Juventus rocked up and coasted by us 3-0, AC Milan took us to the sword 3-0 as well.

Those defeats weren't as dejecting as that the other night but they were certainly comprehensive in their own right.

  6. I expected PSG to beat us, but must say i didn't think we would've been as poor as we were in that first half.

  7. Juve was far more dejecting than tuesday

  8. Kinda thought we'd lose 3-0 or 3-1 if I'm honest, 5 was a bit of a sickner. They were even better than I thought they were but we did look scared first half.

  9. Any team will look brilliant if you give them as much space and time on the ball as we did the other night on top of that the couple of times Sinclair or Roberts got into the oppositions half they had absolutely no support to get us up the field a bit our midfield didn't turn up

  10. Because of the round we were at aye but in terms of sheer domination and getting pumped I felt worse the other night. For whatever reason.

Point I was making is that we have been shagged at home before. Just got to pick ourselves up.

  11. Juventus was a bit more disheartening as they let us have all the ball knowing that we didn't have the quality to score against them. We just got passed off the park the other night.

  12. We made them look good.
We stood off them and couldn't pass ball in first half

  13. PSG really ripped the * out of us. passing it to players who were in danger close to celtic players knowing we wouldnt even get near them .

  14. Brendan a few days before the game,

This might explain the first half performance or lack of it, not sure if superior was the right word to use tbh, not a good mindset for the players when their own manager is saying the opposition are superior.

  15. I think the use of that word was more to keep in check the fans thoughts of us playing our normal game against them .
If you remember in an interview a day before, br says "it will be interesting to see how we counter attack " I think we actually fell between trying to play both ways and it was a mess ,we didn't know wen to press or wether to drop back , it seemed as though we didn't understand and were also surprised at the speed of their passing and movement.
It reminded me of the borussia game last year only more extreme .

  16. 1st impressions and all that- I parked up about a mile down London road, jumped out the car and 2 psg lads about mid 20's started walking beside me trying to hide their scarfs. I said some * weather boys and started blethering in broken 1st year French. Think they were happy I wasn't a loony and no looking to give them a kick in. I was meeting mates in belvidere bowling club so pointed them in the right direction and said aurevoir. Seemed decent blokes and hope they got by the Vaults ok!

  17. took me a few days to recover from the other night i could accept and i think we all can that a team capapble of winning the tournament with such and such playing for them can give us a doing... but what hurt me most was the fear in the players

wether it was because of the unusual formation that we couldnt get a grip or just that most of the players froze, we were like rabbits caught in the headlights and it was just awful to watch that

i thought straight away that rodgers should have changed it but its history now

thats what really upset me and its not the first time we havent fought in game in the champions league or acted scared

thats what dissapointed me much more than the 0-5

Must say I'm disappointed in the lack of cynicism going in to this match. We knew we was up against the top quality this tournament has to offer and I would prefer if we tried to park the bus in 90 mins and hope for a counter or two. We probably had lost anyway, but a 0-2/3 loss is much easier to swallow than a 5 goal pumping. It could also cost us advancement to Europa League if its getting down to goal difference. People say Anderlecht will be the big test in this group, but if we keep being naive they're gonna beat us in Brussels no doubt, hopefully not at Parkhead.

  18. I agree mate would've preferred to park the bus but when your playing against inferior opposition week in week out and your always on the offensive trying to break down their parked bus it must be difficult to totally change your whole style in the space of 1 match

  19. I thought we did try to defend/counter from the start and we done okay restricting them from creating too much for around 30 mins or so, however, our counter attacks just weren't happening at all as we didn't have enough men getting forward to support. We missed a man in behind the striker big time.

I would have just preferred us to go all out attack for the first 10-15 mins like we did vs Man City last season and not just sit back and allow them to settle into the game.
