Not happy with how he has treated the whole situation at. That being said it's great news he has signed for two years. Maybe get another year out of him and hopefully a decent sum of profit on him too. That being said I think he might actually spend more time on the bench that he realises this season. Brown, rogic and ntcham look like the main stay in a the central midfield. Armstrong is good but I think these three bhoys will be in the preferred selection!

There's no way imo Brendan will leave out Rogic/McGregor simultaneously, Brown will not start the Group Stage games imo. I'm certain of that after this contract extension for Armstrong and the signing of Ntcham.

Every player gets fazed out eventually and Brown is no different, some people have to accept this. He will still have a massive role to play for us off the park in these games motivating the lads before kick off.

We don't need all three of Brown/Armstrong/Ntcham starting at the expense of leaving someone like Rogic out the team with the creativity/goal threat he brings.

It's actually a years extension and not two. So instead of his contract expiring in Summer 2018 it will expire in Summer 2019 instead. Meaning to get maximum money for him we'd probably have to sell him in this current window (Which won't happen) or more likely January.

An extra year doesn't give us that much leverage when it comes to selling him.

This time next summer we'll be in the same position. He'll have a year left and could go on a free in Jan so why would any club bother to attempt to sign him for a reasonable fee at all? Unless of course, we're going to sell him this January.

well if its in his mind for a move sooner rather than later :39: if he wants a top club the performances are going to have to be in the phenominal category , suits us as the fee will have to be in that category as well .

I mis-read that. Thought he was on for another two years

  9. I don't agree with this, I think we will see all three, with Brown sitting and the other two playing more of a box to box game. Brendan played with a 3 in midfield for his full term at Liverpool and it will suit us with Paddy (hopefully) and Sinclair on the wings. Armstrong can play further forward and it looks to me that Ntcham could bomb up and down the field too.

Rogic, as much as I like him, will be the man to drop out I think. McGregor will be back up as he always has been.

People saying fully expect him to leave in summer, with the likes of kouassi, Ntcham, rogic, wee McGregor all vying for midfield places, who's to say he will be a regular starter and a don't see any EPL clubs coming in for someone who can't get a regular start in the spl as that's how they will see it

Seen a good blog saying it more likely that celtic not offering wot he wanted until he proves he can deliver the goods again ,and this is contract is just to settle the player and fans for now ,maybe celtic will improve the offer if he delivers again and this is the promise made ,otherwise he coulda moved now for double his wages ,so it can't be about money only ,or not wanting to be here.

meh 2 years? That's disappointing imo. Pretty clear he'll be gone in january if he's not sold this summer. I really enjoy stu's style of football too

It gives us at least another year of his services whilst maintaining the leverage we have now though. Pure and simple, it gives us another year of having him in the side - that can only be a positive. If he ends up going in January (which is a possibility) it will be for good money.

No doubt about it, he was one of our best and most influential players last season. How anyone can see the extension as a negative is absolutely ludicrous. We'd kill for another year of Roberts, we've just got one from Armstrong!

Would have Rogic in my team before Armstrong any day of the week.

Great point. If he signed a four or five year deal just now, he'd be settled on that wage for the best money making years of his career. He's not that daft.

Make absolutely no doubt about this, Stuart Armstrong loves it here. He's ambitious, yes, but his heart is in the right place, wrapped in green and white.

A 2 year deal means we can sell him for bigger money in January

Ntcham, Brown and Armstrong make us more solid and defensively sound than playing with Rogic or McGregor.. I'd expect us to play with all three at times depending on the opposition.

If a player is to miss out for a more attacking formation it won't be Brown it will be Armstrong.

I know you don't like Brown but you're deluded if you think BR will leave Brown out this season..
