Could be a big game for him , if he shows more warning signs of not beeing ready to start important games for Celtic than we could have a centre back in before Cl play offs. We need one regardless of his performance though.

Erik struggled against the Linfield frontline. Frankly, he possibly could be dominated in the air by Bendtner..

Rosenberg are no slouches either. They beat Dundalk, and they are not bad.
And Rosenberg are half way into their season. Griffiths out and a question mark over Dembele's fitness, and suddenly this game has taken on new significance.

I like Bendtner too. He is a dangerous player and physically powerful, he could outmuscle both Lustig or Sviatchenko. He was a dangerous player with Arsenal too.

know it's early to say it about ajer but I'd honestly feel more comfortable with him in than sviatchenko right now

That is like asking, do you want to slash your right wrist first or your left wrist ?.

Bendtner is pish. Any one of our CB's should handle him.

Bendtner shouldn't be underestimated. He can be a cracking player, he can also be horrific, granted.

Type of guy I wouldn't want Sviatchenko playing against though. Wish we had Boyata for that battle.

We beat their reserves 9-0 ffs, should be too strong for them over two legs , won't be easy though

I don't think they'll just roll over, but as the game rolls on at Celtic Park, they'll tire. I've never seen a Celtic team this fit pre-season. Ajer i think needs to be given a chance, but maybe not in a game like this.
However, they'll maybe pick someone out like Sviatchenko and try to go route one. But then you've Simunovic. I like Eboue sitting right in front of the defense and Sviatchenko, for the record is in the shop window, games like this he can handle.

Caulker if signed will need games, so for the time being it's Sviatchenko and Ajer which is not so bad as folks make out.

I'm not saying it will be easy, but I am saying Dundalk aren't a good side

I would be happy with a 1-0. Just don't concede. I am more than confident that we would score over there and I don't think they have the firepower to score 3 past us over 2 legs never mind their home leg.

He's like a Samaras character IMO. Could easily turn up and skelp a couple in. Has enough in him to bully Erik, anyway.

It's unbelievable how Erik had went down in people's estimations.. strength was his main attribute when he first came in! Now we're scared of him being overpowered by that nomark Betdner..

Any updates on this Caulker rumour lads/lasses?

It's a shame we've all lost confidence in Erik. When he was playing his best, he seemed a better option than both Boyata and Jozo, all seemed destined to be our future captain. However, he made that huge error at Ibrox, never really recovered and he seems slower than before, like, reacting too late to a forwards movement and just generally doesn't look/move well.

I'm wondering if there's something happended behind the scenes, it's more than just a bad run of form now, he looked really poor against Linfield.

I don't think it's too late, just look at Boyata, he seemed a lost cause yet come back in and never looked back, hopefully some time on the bench will do him good. But, if we're playing Rosenborg with him in the team, I'm not scared to admit I'd be nervous. Especially, up against such an experienced forward like Bendtner. But, that could work in our favour, Bendter doesn't have that turn of pace to get in behind Erik, so it'll be a case of trying to win the aerial duels and Erik, despite his flasws, is very good in the air I'll give him that.

Rodgers might even leave him out and play a back 3, we'll have to see. Hopefully I'm worrying about nothing.

I'm just so happy we've got Jozo who is absolutely superb, he's a real rock at the back.

    Sviatchenko being severely over-criticised.

He can still be a good player, and he's definitely our 2nd best available centre back just now. I really don't think there's much in it between him and Simunovic, Simunovic's Kenny Miller tackle enhanced his reputation more than any actual performance.
