Seems inevitable he will leave now IMO. Hope I'm wrong however the signs aren't good.

Bit surprised with this whole saga. Wasn't expecting it to be honest.

To be fair to Armstrong, didn't Brendan want to loan him to Leeds on deadline day, but he said he'd rather stay and fight for his place ? Maybe he doesn't feel that Rodgers really made him into a great player, but he did that himself.

Really * off with this. It looks like he's gone, otherwise he'd have signed already.

I don't think he should play tonight, let Ntcham play instead.

If he does he's catastrophically wrong.

The boys not even made a decision yet and people are slating him. He should play tonight as he is a regular starter, if he goes he goes, people can hate him then instead of speculating

Armstrong seems to be playing a game of poker with us. I'm really not sure what his aim is though. Is he looking more money, less contract length, Champions League football, assurances about 1st team football or something else. I have a feeling if we qualify for the champions league he will sign a new deal though.

A player we should be looking to retain for a long time in my opinion. Although like the article from the ex Dundee United coach, I also think he can do a job in a foreign league.

Even though this has been on the go for a fair while now, I still feel he will agree a new deal. I don't buy into the silence or lack of deal meaning otherwise. Nor the paper talk linking him with team after team, with no source to back the claim.

Surely he'd want to consolidate after a real break through last season. He probably wants to see out his contract and become a free agent..

All the power is with the player.

If he was to stay after all this, what a feeling that would be.

Unfortunately as time passes it's looking less and less likely, although I remember rogic was in a similar situation and that seemed to drag too.

This is the only part of Football I don't understand. I'll admit, I'm naive - I just don't understand. I'm putting myself in Armstrong's head just now. I'm playing the best football of my entire career, I'm playing for a world class manager, who believes in me,, we've just won the treble, everything is perfect. Suddenly, you're stalling to sign a new contract? What about showing some loyalty to the manager? Personally, I'd be breaking the pen to sign that contract with Celtic. I understand, there's more to it than how I put it across, I just think its crazy to think he can mess us about. I understand he wants to secure the best deal financially, then there's agents involved etc...

I understand the temptation to move to the Prem, but if he genuinely thinks he'll break into a top 6 club he is being a tad arrogant.

I'd be telling my agent - "With all due respect Mr Chang, you can take your patronising 'I know whats best for you' and shove it up your * - with respect, I'm having the time of my life at Celtic, I want to continue my personal development and win trophies".

I know money is the pivotal factor behind Football now, its just depressing it has to be that way.

Especially when all of us on here would play for free if we had the chance.

Can't get my head around why he's not signing. Just won an invincible treble, had a great season personally and has the chance to compete in the Champions League the next few seasons. Only reason I can think off is is if he thinks he can get into an EPL team where but he'd only be a fringe player there i think.

I can understand it to be fair.

I think the thing is we always assume that football players want footballing success. The truth is for a lot of guys they maybe aren't anywhere near as bothered.

For some it will be a short career to earn some very good money and then when they his 32 they start their real life.

If you talk to some ex pros this is the impression you get. Once they get to 25 and have their first kid, they care less about footballing achievements and would rather a bit less pressure and a bit more money.

Signing a premier league contract is a safe bet for Armstrong right now. He'll be able to do whatever he wants after football.

Yes it would open the door for McGinn to come to Parkhead.

Whilst am a big fan of Armstrong, it's that argument of no one is bigger than the club. If you won't sign we will show you the door mate. Let's be honest we have probably already signed his replacement in ntcham.

Don't need more overrated championship players. Scott allan couldn't handle it and he was better than mcginn.
