[Official TC Thread] Celtic vs Lyon 15/07/17 3 pm

Some good things to take from it the 3 lads in midfield and ajer standouts by a mile. And that's not with our best 11 imagine them rotated into the squad with the likes of Sinclair rogic jozo tierney etc... Would be a big difference. FairPlay though there was creativity and passing that we haven't seen much of recently tbh... Kouassi deep playmaker. Some great passes from his own half really enjoyed it. 2nd half showed lack of exp. and izzy bitton n hazards lack of quality being harsh but honest

 

There are more positives to take from it than there are negatives and that's what a friendly is all about. Doesn't matter what the score is. I'm happier with 4-0 loss to Lyon where we see some players show what they are all about in Ntcham, Benyu, Ajer, Eboue and whoever else than I am with a 9-0 win at Shamrock Rovers.

 

Benyu is easily good enough to play for the first team imo

 

To be fair to coulibaly it wasn't the first time he scored a screamer last season he was starting to make it a habit he got killie good money now he is a free agent surprised a spfl team hasn't snapped him up

Yeah he did score a few beauties tbf.

As a free agent I'm surprised an spfl team hasnt taken a punt either.. He was a very good at Killie.

 

1st half just lacked the final ball at times 2nd half seemed to be off the pace and Lyon were slicker with their movement and passing dont think you will see many games were your centre halfs are midfield players

 

Interesting we put de Vries in the sticks and we ship the goals . Did I not see a preview of this episode lady year?

 

Thought Benyu was excellent today. Apart from that a don't think we can take much else from that game.

Thought both our keepers were poor and also both right backs didn't have the best of games.

 

Were Lyon full strength lads??

 

Good first half performance. Ajer, Benyu Ntcham and Kouassi impressed. Izzy and Bitton did not. I think that might be Bitton's last match for us, which is why he was captain. Or is that just wishful thinking?

 

Koussai looks a player hopefully he's given a chance in the 1st team

 

Benyu surprised me, he really looks the part and looks like a first team player already. Olivier also showed the qualities that brought him here. Benyu, Olivier and Moussa look like a quality trio together. Scoreline is irrelevant and I actually enjoyed the game tbh. What's the story with what happened to the green brigade??

 

Weren't allowed their banners and drums and stuff so walked out

 

We were there very briefly.

Basically denied access to our materials and treated like dafties.

We've ongoing issues with the club over the flares v Hearts, last game of season, which obviously still aren't resolved.

Could be looking at a ban to come however we're obviously trying to work things out but today was evidence that we've still a bit to go there.

In terms of the flares I can see the club's stance on that but it was an amazing and seemingly controlled sight that day. The atmosphere created by you guys on a match day is unbelievable and I take my hat off to you

De Vries is not a good goalie. I have no faith in him.

 

Not a fan of Dorus but he didn't concede any goals and actually made a decent save or two.
