I love how Brendan is investing good money into these young European talents... Hopefully we show we can challenge in Europe this season

If Paddy comes back Olivier and Moussa and Kieran and Paddy could go out on a couples night. Stuart will have to just stay in now his wee pal is up at the sheep

Is he similar to Wanyama or a bit more attacking?

If he is half the player Victor was * be a great signing.

I don't think he is a Wanyama type at all.

I'm thinking a black Stuart Armstrong on roids. All action midfielder who loves a ping at goal.

    Lads, bear with me..

Just because he's black, doesn't mean he plays like Wanyama.

Shocking and hard to believe, I know, but I'm told it's true.

I don't believe you. Smells like bojan all over again. He is our new wanyama mixed with VVD skills and a Hooper finishing instinct and your not gonna tell me otherwise :56:

Was basing this on a 4 minute clip I saw. He reminded a bit of Wanyama because of his physicality. Maybe subconsciously because he was black as well so its a fair point lol.

Maybe my memory is playing tricks with me but Wanyama got forward a fair bit as well, maybe not as attacking as Armstrong but more attacking than when he first started with us.

From the short video that's been going about he does seem to be a bit like Wanyama though. Those tackles at the start in particular and some of the clumsy-looking (but actually very good) key passes remind me of him.

BRENDAN Rodgers was delighted to have secured the services of Olivier Ntcham, and he believes the highly-rated midfielder will help Celtic take another step forward, particularly in European football.

The France Under-21 internationalist, who has spent the last two seasons on loan with Serie A side Genoa, completed his move to the Scottish champions from Manchester City on Wednesday.

Regarded as one of the most exciting young talents in French football, he has signed a four-year contract with the Hoops and becomes the club’s third summer signing following the arrivals of Jonny Hayes and Kundai Benyu.

The Celtic manager revealed he had been tracking Ntcham for a long time and he told the official website that the 21-year-old has all the attributes required to develop into a top player.

“I felt that, especially for the higher level, the speed and the power of the game involved is now very apparent, having worked there and having worked with players at that level,” the manager said in an exclusive interview.

“To make progress over the next couple of seasons, particularly at the European level, it is important for us to have those physical attributes in there.

“Olivier is a player I have been looking at for near on eight months now, so I was aware of him in the second half of last season and before that.

“He’s a player I always felt could work well for us. He has everything: he’s 21 years of age, he’s got a little bit of experience in playing senior football, but now he really needs that opportunity to go and flourish.

“Technically, he’s very gifted and, tactically, he understands the game at a good level. He has many different technical qualities – he can pass, he can dribble and he can shoot. He’s highly gifted. Physically he has everything – he is powerful, quick and good in the duel.

“Mentally, it’s just a case of him taking the next steps in his career, coming to play at a huge club with big demands and opportunity to play in the Champions League. For us, it’s a very big signing. The market out there is hard to get players of that quality, and it will hopefully prove to be a very good signing.

“Now the responsibility is with him. It’s there for him. If he can come in and flourish like a lot of the other ones have, then he should hopefully have a fantastic Celtic career.”
