The deal had been on the table for months and hadn't been signed. He forced our hand, either take the £700k Palace offered or potentially lose him for nothing 3 months later.

He was one of the standouts from the season, so I think it would be a blow if he decided to leave, or we sent him on. I don't want to lose any of the first picks this transfer window if possible.

I'm sure he could be replaced but in the interests of continuity and building on last season's success, I'd much prefer he put pen to paper.

Totally agree. I didnt mean to sound pedantic- he was a standout for us after October time. Im just thinking we were going rightly before then when he wasnt in the team. Really want him to stay though. A top player in the making.

Would be a sore one to lose him.POTY for me last year and 15 goals from midfield is superb not forgetting an equaliser in scottish cup final when Aberdeen were playing well.
Hopefully wage demands not way off limits and agreement reached soon. Not looking great...

    Proper lol'd there :56::56:

Don't think McGregor is the answer to replace him though as much as he is a very good squad player to have.

Hopefully he sticks around for a while, been too long since we had a midfielder with this combined defensive workrate and goal threat, probably all the way back to Petrov.

On the other hand if he does go, his form this season should get us a decent price even with just a year left on his current deal, and with him out of the way it gives our newer squad members a better chance at breaking into the team and proving their worth.

Anyone who actually believes Ledley was about to sign a new deal is a gullible *.

He walked away from his boyhood club. He's a mercenary.

That's harsh, he has given good service to all his clubs and has only had three clubs in his career, hardly a mercenary..

Can't criticise someone for joining us either!

    Yet, he wasn't.

If he wanted to stay, he'd have stayed.

Nope. I know this one for a fact.

He was asking for a deal about a year before we even got round the table.

Never criticised him. Fair play to anyone getting as much money as they can get for their family. And no ones saying anything about the service he's given.

But people bring up Ledley when they want to criticise us went it comes to contracts or transfer dealings. He done the exact same to his boyhood club.

He'd had a contract on the table for about a year but never signed, then as soon as he moves he tellings Celtic fans what they want to hear.

He walked away from Cardiff after years of service to try his hand at a bigger club and to win trophies. Hardly a mercenary.

No you don't. Lennon stated the year before he left that talks had already started on a new deal.

Even then, he was so desperate to stay that he'd had an offer on the table for about a year and was only about to sign a deal the day the accepted an offer?

    You're being naive.

And walked away from trophies and Champions League football to a team that were fighting relegation.

Look, If Armstrong dozen't want to be here any longer let him go.
We went through the same charade with Stefan Johansen.

I guess comparisons with Ledley and Armstrong situations are inevitable..

Both hugely popular players and very effective on the park.

Celtic will cash in rather than let him leave for nothing next season and rightly so..

Let's just hope that doesn't happen and we get him tied up.
