We will just have to wait and see what price we pay for him could be all the extras over a period of time. In the past we have been told a player was costing us a big price but they were including his wages and other things.

Looks like we are taking our spending to the next level. It's all coming together

The only way I can imagine us paying that kind of money for him, if 5-7mil is accurate, is if the board are confident that he'll move on in 2-3 years for at least 2-3 times the price.

If it does happen, I hope it's not just a one off, this sort of spending on young talent instead of the 1-2mil at most in the past hoping we unearth a gem has been a bit too hit and miss, for every van dijk we've had a pukki.

But it would probably depend on qualifying for the CL at least this year and possibly next so we have that safety net from the extra cash, so if a player doesn't pan out we're not having to tighten our belt to keep the finances stable.

CELTIC are on the brink of a £4million deal for Manchester City midfielder Olivier Ntcham.

The 21-year-old Frenchman underwent a medical in Glasgow yesterday before checking into a plush city-centre hotel last night.

The 21-year-old Frenchman underwent a medical in Glasgow yesterday before checking into a plush city-centre hotel last night.

He could now be included in Brendan Rodgers’ squad for Friday’s Champions League clash with Linfield at Windsor Park.

Ntcham – compared to superstars Paul Pogba and Yaya Toure – would be Rodgers’ third summer signing.

The Bhoys gaffer has already added Jonny Hayes and Kundai Benyu to his treble-winning group.

Celtic’s interest in Ntcham emerged after their attempts to lure Chelsea starlet Charly Musonda failed.

The Scottish champions go into Friday’s match with Linfield in good form after thumping Shamrock Rovers 9-0 in a friendly in Dublin.

What a lad. Inconsistent doesn't worry me though. Wasn't exactly playing in a good side in what is a very tough league.

How is it pish? You know players can turn us down, we are a huge club but we are not some sort of pinnacle of world football that players aspire to.

I think he means it's pish because they don't even play in the same position, it's not like one was a backup to the other.

It's pish because one is a winger and the other is a brick shithouse box to box midfielder. We didn't turn to Ntcham because Musonda "turned us down".

In fairness I think it is pish because they are two completely different players.

We wouldn't 'turn to' a brick shithouse of a centre midfielder because we were unable to lure a showboating winger built like the side of a fiver.

Makes zero sense. Press just trying to put a dampner on things, the usual 'So and so REJECTS Celtic'.

edit: Aaaaaannnd 2 folk just posted the same above:56:

Brendan Rodgers is on the verge of signing Manchester City midfielder Olivier Ntcham in a deal worth up to £5million.

Meanwhile, SunSport can reveal City kid Ntcham’s four-year deal could eventually hit the £5m mark, with a £4.5m fee being paid upfront and £500k in add-ons.

As long as we get to and through Group Stages of CL we will be able to bring in signings like this each season until we can regularly compete in GS and beyond.
