As the title says, players you think are extremely underrated.

Two for me are Davor Suker, who never seems to get mentioned in with the great strikers of the late 90's early 2000's despite being an incredible footballer and being top scorer at a World Cup in France 98.

The other for me is Diego Forlan, one of the best footballers and strikers of the last decade for me. Very clever, instinctive player.

    Gabriel Batistuta.

One of the greatest strikers I've ever seen, yet very rarely named anywhere amongst the top elite of strikers in history.

Really? Always think he's mentioned, one of the go to guys of great strikers.

On that note - * Del Piero, what a * player he was, one of my favourites ever. Largely seems to be forgotten about these days.

Don't get me wrong, his name does get bandied about, but more on the level of * like Cantona etc.

Think he's comfortably above Cantona even though he was a genius. Denis Bergkamp as well, might be because people remember him as the 38 year old version at Arsenal instead of him in his heyday.

His was the first name I thought of when I saw the title of the thread, that guy was lethal, and he'd shoot from anywhere.

Some of his strikes were just ridiculous, definitely underrated in my opinion :shamrock:

Alan Hansen top class centre half but never gets the credit he deserves.

When you mentioned Suker I thought of Prosinecki. He was a lovely footballer.

Boban as well in that team. Croatia at France 98 were incredible.

I was thinking Del Piero actually. Rarely mentioned when people reel off quality players or strikers from that era.

I would say Beckham is actually underrated by a lot of people. Ashley Cole to some extent .Genuine World XI contender, unlike the rest of recent English players.

Hard to say really. There might be a few people who underrate world class players but the majority do, so not sure whether you could class them.

Others are just missed because people didn't see them play enough. Like Georghe Hagi for instance.

Annoys me slightly when world-renowned top quality players are referred to as underrated on here by people trying to sound more knowledgeable :giggle1: Zidane was probably the best.

Dennis Irwin - Consistent and reliable also chipped in with goals from left back.
Hagi - Magician, him and stoichkov where the first players i watched, in 94, and thought wow. Especially some of the goals Hagi could score.

Rui Costa, always loved him thought he was a fantastic player. None of my pals and folk I talk with about football in general ever mention him and I'm always surprised.

Another one - Pauleta, Portuguese striker who played for PSG in the 2000's, he was fantastic.
