Disciplinary proceedings have been opened following the UEFA Champions League Group C match between Manchester City FC and Celtic FC (1-1), played on 6 December in Manchester, England.

    Charges against Celtic FC:

    - Setting off of fireworks – Art. 16 (2) of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations (DR)
    - Crowd disturbances – Art. 16 (2) DR

This case will be dealt with by the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body on 23 February 2017.

I presume crowd disturbances were examples of fans sitting in the home end which ended up in a scuffle. They're justification will be that City repeatedly advised Celtic fans not to do this, which is very true to be fair, but obviously those calls were ignored which is fair enough as far as in concerned. However, surely it is the responsibility of City to enforce this and therefore should be charged as well as us?

I still don't get how charges can be brought against the club, when the club repeatedly ask supporters not to do certain things?

Exactly, what is it the Uefa actually expect clubs to do... start tarring and feathering?

I still dont understand how one of our fans being assaulted in their end gets us a fine.

Fireworks fair enough. Nmpties have been told time and time again.

Not that I have anything against * holding flares or anything, but how exactly can Celtic as a club be expected to "control" or "police" these matches?

I may be wrong, but don't both clubs have to pay a share of the match profits to whatever police force that is officiating at the game? If so, then why aren't those in positions of authority at the game (i.e. polis and stewards) the ones under the scope, considering they are the ones being paid to control order at a fitba match?

Because it looks more dramatic in the news when UEFA fine [insert big European club] than [insert local police force].
