Most exciting signing

Paul Lambert for me. Wim Jansens side were starting to look the part, but just missing a quality holding midfielder. When Jansen raided the reigning European Champs Borrusia Dortmund for Lambert for just around 2 mill (especially with all the rave reviews he was getting) in November in 1997 I was genuinely excited. It was the first time I thought we could actually stop the Huns getting 10 in a row.

Being too young to properly remember, I've always wondered how we got Lambert. A regular for the European Champions.

What a good shout. I got Lambert on the back of my shirt the first year names started to appear there

I'm old, I was a very excited person when I read on Ceefax that Joe Miller was signing

 

Remember being really excited about Pierre, Di Canio, Rieper, Lambert, Lennon, Hartson, Berkovic, Viduka, Bellamy, Adiere, Zurawski, Brown, Boruc, Keane, Griffiths to name a few..

Most of our more recent successes I knew little about before they got here. I was excited about Toure because I thought our squad was crying out for that type of player. Didnt know a lot about Dembele but his record was impressive for his age and hadn't watched Sinclair in years.

Actually was quite excited by De Vries but that's turned out to be underwhelming so far.

I was excited about Griffiths as well but not to the extent of the others I've mentioned, he was always going to be a 20+ goals a season striker for us at the worst.

Funny you should mention that, I'm old too and remember crying when he went back to the sheep

 

Lambert & Gravesen for me.

They had big reputations & the clubs we signed them from!

 

HAve seen alot of signings come and go and been excited by a few but the most excited ive been and its the first that came to my mind as soon as i seen this thread and it was Bellamy. If i remember correctly, we got him at the last min and i just couldnt believe it! Was chuffed to * when it happened, phoned my da and he didnt even believe me.

 

As a kid I never knew about any player outside celtic tbh. Never heard of Sutton etc until he was a celt. The only time in recent memory was our manager Rodgers. Proper got butterflies and excitement. Still do.
Many signings iv thought will be great but none that's gave me the proper excitement Rodgers gave me.

 

Roy Keane. He used to be my idol when I was a youngster. Keano to Celtic was like ketchup and mayo on a hot dog. pure awesomeness.

 

Gravesen, partly I think because we signed him from Real Madrid. So excited. We signed him the day my son was born and I can remember my mother in law ringing me at the hospital and saying "well" and I answered her "Great news, We got Gravesen". She hung up on me!

 

Judas
