    Hibernian can confirm that Celtic midfielder Kris Commons has joined the Club on a short-term emergency loan.

    The midfielder, 33, has been recruited to provide midfield cover until 15 January 2017.

    Head Coach Neil Lennon said: “Kris is an experienced, technically gifted player, so him coming in at this time is of benefit to the side as the games start coming in over the festive period.

    “With us missing a lot of our regular midfield players, it is good to bring in someone with a lot to offer, even just on a short-term basis.”

    Kris says that the deal can be beneficial for both parties and is looking forward to joining up with the squad.

    He said: “It has come about very quickly, but I think it makes sense on both parts. I can try to get some football under my belt and give Hibs a helping hand as well.

    “As much as I am trying to help Hibs, the club are trying to help me out a lot, so I’m grateful to them for giving me the opportunity to play football. I’m also thoroughly looking forward to hopefully helping them on the way and putting on the jersey and doing my best.”

    Very sorry to see wee Commons going away as he has been a great servant to the club and a fan's favorite, a 110% Celtic man, and hopefully he can propel Neil Lennon and Hibs to the SPL.

    I agree with big Gaffa. Commons is 33 now, and it is time to close this chapter as he dozen't figure in Brendan's plans for Celtic going forward, no harm in that, every manager sees things differently.

    Well I hope so , Kris Commons was very good for Celtic particularly in his early
    Years. Over the last couple of season he was no longer able to keep up with the
    faster movement of the Celtic forward line

    Its an emergency loan for now since its outside the transfer window but I would be surprised if it isn't at least extended to the end of the season during the January window.

    We offered him a deal in the summer and he turned it down. The same reason he wouldn't sign a one year deal under Ronny and would only sign a 2 year deal.

    He's not going to walk away from the money.

    Doesn't seem so long ago Commons and Bitton did this. If you told me after that game they wouldn't be playing this season I would never have believed it.

    Wish Kris all the best though, he needs to be playing at this stage of his career and he'll bring real quality to Hibs and hopefully bring them up.
