The Big Strachan Argument (Multiple Threads Merged)

Discussion in 'Celtic Chat' started by Colin McRae, Mar 5, 2008.

  1. i agree with exactly what you are saying.

  2. Maybe we should be giving the other teams in the league some credit.

Both Celtic and Rangers are still way ahead of the rest but neither team can lash out the type of fees which we saw in the past. This fact along with some very good managers at other clubs has brought the rest closer.

Routinely thrashing the other teams is a thing of the past.

Smith has built an effective but boring team, and I still believe they will experience a dip in form.

  3. the guys who i end up arguing with are true celtic fans and i love them but they are * blind!

  4. when we are spending maybe 10 times more on players such as, ac milan, and real madrid players on big wages who are not regular picks cmon

    is strachan doing homework?

  5. Yes.

more the fool you, you bet celtic tae win ,in the nou camp ,the you talk about the heights of 2003 ,eh thats the uefa cup,not the champs league ,were i think the champs from all the countries play ,theres no doubt about were your allicances come from , your one of these guys who cant see buy mon, which is history, move on ,wgs has taken celtic up a level to the last 16 over the last 2 seasons ,is that not progress ,yes the team needs a clean-out ,but why sack a manager who has this pedigree behind him now , did the one and only mon do this ,naw it was allways glorious failure way him ,im not a wgs love myself but face the facts hes done better than mon ever did ,heres one for you would you say that the champs league i s easier now than then,im just trying to think of an answer for you ,like it was harder before ,wgs is the manager and until hes sacked or leaves he will make the decisions ,mon is in villa park i was a bit suprised how quickly he came back to football after his wifes illness ,aye she mayhave been ill ,but listen it was his get out from celtic

  8. IMO he is out of his depth then

  9. That's how you see it. Fair do's. So I can assume you rate Smith the better manager?

  11. Can I point out that those teams have a major advantage over us?

The laws regarding work permits in those countries are far more relaxed than in the UK. This allows clubs like Porto and PSV to sign unknown players from Brazil, Argentina etc without the hassle it would cause us and those players also settle better in those countries.

  12. * it im being honest smith is the better manager, if strachan was the huns manger and we had a relic who knows his stuff we would be doing better.

strachan needs some time and he wont get it here

Yes I know this but not all those teams and this rule dosent stop us finding talent in Africa,Scandenavia and the Eastern block.

Also Doc clubs like Arsenal,Man Utd amongst others aquire talent with no prosppect of a work permit and loan them out to the continent so as over time they get the relevant documents. This is a way round the problem you mention and maybe something we should also be persuing. For example Alex was playing for PSV but was a registred Chelsea player now he has got the right papers and is cleared to play in England.Man U have just aquired Manucho who is currently playing for Benfica till he gets his permit and of course Arsenals core team is based on doing this also.

  17. when your best signing is a guy that is one of the best free kick takers on the planet, and you rely on him, and the guy in open play is nothing special really * me!

    did that sound japanese?

Im sorry to be the optomist but we are a * side with every thing going for us, it sounds funny but its true.

  18. I'm all for the idea of having a feeder club somewhere in Europe.

I still blame Smith and his negative tacticts in the Ukraine away game. I guess the only way to compare them is by what they have achieved recently. Not much in it but WGS did go further in Europe though.

  20. Bit harsh. Truly * sides don't win 9 league games in a row.
