Yes quite like what @StainseyBhoy said, signing DDV has kicked him up the * and I noticed how he positions himself far out of the penalty area these days and his ball work is developing.

I STILL feel sorry for DDV though as like you say @Just Kieran , he got threw under a bus. Notts Forrest to the Nou Camp is bad enough especially when you dont expect to be playing.

If Gordon played at his current level until the end of the season do you think he would have done enough for Brendan Rodgers to give him the #1 shirt again next season?

Personally I don't see why not.

It depends on whether we are linked with a decent keeper in January or not. I'd maybe change my mind if we were given the opportunity to sign someone else who was rated highly.

Seems to have cut out the * losing silly goals and near post ones at that! But still don't feel confident in him TBH his kicking is atrocious

"Every pass back goes out the park" is a * of an exaggeration. He does shank a few that's for sure but his positives far outweigh the negatives.

Still think we can do better though.

    Probably not.

He's being doing well recently but he's still making some silly mistakes i.e. his fly kicks. And although his kicking has slightly improved, it's still not of the standard Rodgers would like. He still regularly kicks it out for a throw in.

I'm interested to see who we could get though with the kind of kicking Rodgers does want.

I was going on about Michel Vorm in the summer but I've kind of went off of the idea since. I still believe first and foremost you want a good shot stopper. The keeper is there to do exactly that, shot stopping.

As admirable as Rodgers' style is, we need to be realistic.

Realistic about what? Its hardly inconceivable we can find a keeper who can play and is a better shot stopper.

I can't think of many ball playing keepers who are also excellent shot stoppers kicking about in our price range.

That's completely besides the point though, we have an extensive scouting system for this.

The point is GK's like that are quite rare. At least within our scouting bracket.

He's definitely been told to modify his kicking, he's trying to pick out a pass with every kick, kicking across it and trying to take the pace off like a sand wedge.

He's making an * of a few, but generally it' working quite well.

Yeah, this. Forster is the best keeper we've had for a long time and he didn't carve his way into the England squad or leave us for big money because of his ability on the deck (his kicking was actually pretty awful, especially early on).

DDV showed very little in regard to shot stopping when he played in goal for us (and I wasn't awe-inspired by his kicking either), but Gordon's ability has rarely been in doubt. Gordon had a poor start to the season and I still feel there's a clanger in there but he seems to be getting his sharpness back and all things considered, he has prevented more goals and won us more points than he has cost us. He's in the team on merit and I reckon he is more than capable of cutting out the mistakes.

I still think we need to be looking at a medium-term replacement (within the next couple of seasons) but he's the best keeper we have at preventing goals so leave it as it is. I'll take every one of his passes going into row Z if we win and keep clean sheets.

He's a bit ropey, probably understandably but he does play some nice one's. Nice surprise one to Armstrong first half by the main stand, was pin point..

    * back pass from Armstrong put him in bother second half though and it was comical watching him try to get rid..

Gordon record since returning in goal has been excellent domestically, with 6 consequtive clean sheets.

That said his tendency to 'stay' deep when dealing with through balls and crosses frustrates me.

He's a big tall lad, but I suppose his build and previous injury record prevents him from doing that.

Get on the pies big man
