The thing about giving him a chance, is that he'll likely be seriously lacking match fitness, which won't exactly give way to the kind of performance he needs to give, in order to merit a squad place.

I'd let him turn out for the development squad a couple of times and bring him on as a sub in the league, if he was to get the chance of first team action.

See a lot of hate for Commons on twitter. Mainly from people who still have hard ons for useless Ronny.

Hope to see him play for us again.

I agree completely, mate. It has to be a genuine chance; not toss him in one day, lacking match sharpness.

We should play him next week and the week after that but not the week after that

If he is fit I'd jump with him

Duno what so many folk still see in him. He was utterly hopeless on the league last year. He contributed in Europe aye, in a * campaign but it was apparent he's not got what he used to have.

Said it plenty of times, he's been a great servant but he's not going to play under Rodgers. People get roped into this stuff wae his Mrs loving the club etc and think that warrants Commons playing.

    He's finished, its that simple.

So good enough for Europe and not the SPFL? He's not a winger anymore in a million years but if you don't think he can contribute against the likes of Alloa, I really have no idea what you're watching.

Hopeless but scored 9 goals in basically half a season last year, in a year that we only had two players get into double figures.

He won't play under Rodgers but people downplaying him are kidding themselves.

Can't believe what I'm reading on here sometimes. Cracking player and still has a chance of being a useful player for us.

I'm directly comparing him to Stuart Armstrong here btw. Rogic is clear first choice who comes off around 60 minutes because he struggles after it. Armstrong is the back up.

    I'd much rather Commons.

    As
As would i, the only game Armstrong had an impact this season is when he came on against them, and even then they were gone by that stage imo

As said if he is to get a chance he needs to be playing with the development squad for match sharpness and then he could be used in a game as a sub. I would dearly love to see him make the 100.

For me the difference between Commons and Armstrong, Christie and McGregor is is that those 3 players can improve and have potential. Commons is done and will only get worse.

McGregor isn't an attacking midfielder. Times ran out on waiting on Armstrong to 'get good'.

I'd be quite happy with Christie coming on though.

It's astounding arrogance to think we're that good we can drop a clear better player and put in absolute * on the basis of they won't get better anymore.

Think Forrest proves that 24 isn't too late for players to 'get good'.
Plus let's be honest here we're strolling the SPL at the moment. Perfect opportunity to develop players, and Armstrong has shown quality at times. In Europe you have a point but if Commons hasn't had any game time then there is no point playing him.

I doubt we'll see him play again for Celtic. If he does it'll be the very odd cameo.

He's been fit for a while now and is nowhere to be seen.

Forrest had shown before he could be a good player for us. However, that point aside, do players like Armstrong deserve gametime above better players in the vague hope that they become a better player or do teach them a place needs to be earned?

I think footballers should be played if it's better towards your overall goal of winning games. Not because somebody is younger.

Would you drop Kolo Toure for Simunovic?

We don't really know how good Commons is now cause he hasn't featured for a while. But yes in easy SPL games I would rather have us develop players than play old ones. So yes I would drop Toure for Simunovic as I think Jozo has great potential. We are a selling club and because of the money we get for young talents we develop we can maintain our current dominance in Scotland and play well in Europe.

    * that mate, I'd rather make us as good a team as we can possibly be.

Think he'll be lucky to see a single minute under Rodgers but I may be wrong. Being left out the Champions League squad was a slap in the face he won't recover from.

Whilst it might be the right decision as a whole, it's never nice to see guys that have done so well for us over a number of years just fizzle out as so many have.

Brendan has given plenty of player's a chance, Janko, Efe etc at the back. Ciftci up top and a host of other's who obviously were never making it under Brendan, for a good while before, or ever. You have to beg the question why Commons hasn't, and doesn't look like he ever will get a chance..
