    I don't think people are writing Gamboa off per se after just one game, and especially against Barcelona at home. But he did turn in a horrendous performance admittedly up against Neymar.He wasn't the only one though.

    Still Pullis didn't rate him at all, and I don't think it was just down to his height, had to run deeper than that for Pullis wanting shot of him.

    I can understand why you might be worried about de vries and bitton but isn't writing Gamboa off after one game against the best team in the world a bit daft?

    I am not writing Gamboa off see my post above.
    But I don't see many lining up to defend him.
    And for the avoidance of doubt and to make my position clear, I was against us signing Gamboa.
    I wanted us to sign Callum Paterson. That is on the record on TC.

    Aye but saying that is a terrible team is a bit of an over reaction no?

    You would rather have Callum Paterson over a player who was a world cup quarter finalist? I think Callum Paterson is a decent player but give me gamboa everyday of the week. He will show he is a good player give him time.

    Paterson is a decent SPL level defender, strong and fast but very technically limited plus is a liability for getting sent off.

    Gamboa is an attacking full back that's where you'll see him thrive when he can put his pace to good use and overlapping the winger. He's not known for being great at defending. Again needs time to settle in but I suppose you'll write him off after 3 games same as De Vries.

    I am not writing off Gamboa as I have said, Brendan has worked wonders with Forrest, Armstrong and others, but nobody can do anything with Efe :smiley-laughing002:

    Gamboa may turn out to be decent at wing back, but he is never a full back in a million years. Did you watch him against Barcelona ? He looked lost at full back, didn't track back or tackle.
    I am pretty sure Brendan could make Paterson an even better full back.
