Another terrific performance from us today, and although Aiden took all the plaudits for another mesmerising game (and rightly so) I think credit must go to Paul Hartley for an almost faultless showing in the holding midfield role.

Brown was suddenly transformed back into the player we know he can be and our wide players were fantastic as well. Having that solid base in midfield makes a world of difference to us. I'd play Hartley/Brown or Hartley/Donati or even Hartley/Robson in the middle of the park.

    BUT....

We simply cannot overlook the fact that Gary Caldwell continues to be an embarrassment at centre half. He continually comes out of defence to challenge for headers then losing them, or not getting off the ground at all. As a centre half he is an absolute nightmare, and when Bobo returns he must replace him immediately. He may not be the long term solution, but at least he can defend properly.

Get him out of there before he costs us points (and mark my words..he will)

    Caldwell wasn't bad today .

Hartley done very little ,brown actually showed up for once .

we crushed them , that was the point, or 3 as it is .

We are 4 points off the pace for a reason , the team hasn't performed all the time , its hardly caldwells fault ,and if it is then blame strachan for picking him .

Get a beer down yous and dry up :drinking:

Hartley for me was second only to McGeady for MOTM. Nothing fancy but won every challenge, kept it simple and pulled the strings in midfield. It allowed Brown to play further forward.

I am not Hartleys biggest fan. But today he gave the team a balance we have been sorley missing. He sat and played his position and played it great I agree Doc he was the second best player on the park.

His perforemance helped Brown get forward although he didnt do anything scintalating it helped the team move forward as a unit. Big thumbs up for Hartley if he continues to play this well he has to start more regular.

Also DOC your views on why Caldwell should go I couldnt agree with you more.:50:

Hartley helps protect the defence (and with Caldwell we need him) he also gives Naka, Aidan and Scott Brown the freedom to go forward. It's not a glamorous position but necessary, ask Neil Lennon or Paul Lambert.

I think Hartley has been a key playerf or us this season. Yet today i thought he was medicore, he was harldy ever mentioned, and this is not good as unlike Neil Lennon he has more pace and in a game where we dominated midfeild i think he should of been more involved. Just because the commentators kept saying he was adding shape to our midfeild dosen't mean they were correct.

    Caldwell,enough said.

Hartley's performance allowed Brown to play his natural game.I think they are our best CM combination and should be persevered with.

A good performance no doubt, but Aberdeen were very poor today.

I don't need commentators or pundits to help me form an opinion thanks. Hartley was fantastic today, sometimes it's the players who keep it simple that make all the difference.

I would have Donati instead of him most of the time.

i agree with doc. whole midfield was excellent today and that was because hartley allowed them to go forward at will. hartley was solid.

I was thinking that hartley did little today , i love seeing him play and i rate him alot , i just dont think Brown played better for it

Brown has been totally inconsistent and today petrov flashed in my mind , so much a better player than brown at browns age now

edit and i do see hartley as a starter and not a bench guy but only when it fits

He didn't win a header all day, did you see the match???? The only time he did connect with the ball he headed it in the wrong * direction.

He was also flat footed for Aberdeen's goal.

Can't head a ball, can't tackle, can't pass, gives away too many cheap free kicks.

Have a look at the Aberdeen goal. He went for a ball in the air and didn't even get off the ground. It led to their goal.

In the first half, with his back to our goal and the ball coming straight at him he tried to head it away and somehow headed it back towards our goal and straight to an Aberdeen player who was then straight through on goal. Caldwell made the chance for him.

aye well , as long as you enjoyed it ......

we won 5-1 by the way , all though thats just nothing to think about

tell you what , some of you are the same people who proclaim a 1-0 scrappy ( win ugly ? who cares 3 points is 3 points)

then turn round and pick holes in a team that wins 5-1 ?!!!!

    get a fukn grip eh
