    Man City's Samaras

I hope this is a load of baloany, but i just heard on Clyde 1 sports desk that Rankers will face competition from Celtic for the singing of Greek striker Samaras. Now i am no expert but i have seen this guy play a few times for City and thought he was a waste of space. He looked really slow and at times un interested, i hope this is just another rumour.

    MILK WAS A BAD CHOICE..
I folowed Herenveen quite a lot in the season before City bought him, and he was pretty darn good, hence the £6m fee to outmuscleArsenal, who were sniffing around with £4m, if I recall.

Granted, he has been poor for City in some of the showings he's got, but other times he's looked a very good player, theplayer he was at Herenveen.

I hope Rangers don't get him, though I 've just started a thread that states they have just had a bid accepted.

    Hail, Hail!

yh from that article it looks a real possibility for us. i think this would be a good signing. he scored goals for fun in greece, dont think man city suited him atall, although he has shown glimpses of brilliance,. boys he is only 22. he could improve greatly, and lets be fair the spl is a good place to build a strikers confidence and sharpness. im pretty optimistic about this.

    Samaras in talks with Celtic

Giorgios Samaras was in Glasgow last night discussing a possible six-month loan with Celtic after Manchester City's Greek striker had earlier been linked with a £2.3m transfer to Rangers.
Samaras had been offered to both clubs but Celtic moved quickly to open negotiations after Walter Smith elected to pursue another option.
The Herald understands the 22-year-old had initially been offered a loan deal until the end of the season with a view to a permanent transfer. However, sources in Greece suggest Samaras could hold out for a permanent move, with Celtic weighing-up the merits of a longer contract.

Celtic have also been linked with renewed interest in the Burnley striker, Kyle Lafferty but, ironically, he has now been mentioned as a Rangers target. Celtic had an initial £500,000 bid rejected for the Northern Ireland striker and had considered a deal involving Derek Riordan until they were made aware of Samaras' availability.
Rangers could reinvest the £3m due from Fulham for the transfer of Daniel Cousin in the 20-year-old but only if Burnley lower their asking price of £4m for Lafferty, who has scored just four goals this term, mainly as a left winger.
Steven Smith and Andy Webster played in a closed-door game last night but it was an otherwise frustrating day for Rangers. Thomas Buffel's proposed move to FC Koln collapsed after their failure to offer a cash deal in the region of £1m or a loan fee for the Belgian.
Alan Hutton also looks set to stay at Ibrox. Rangers have accepted an offer from Tottenham Hotspur of £9m for the right back but he has yet to be persuaded to move.
This after he was invited to White Hart Lane on Sunday and again yesterday. Hutton has maintained his stance and despite changing agents he is determined to stay at least until the end of the season. The player could triple his wages to an estimated £33,000 per week but The Herald understands the transfer of Jonathan Woodgate to Tottenham has further complicated the situation. Woodgate has been signed on an estimated £50,000 per week, despite costing £2m less than Hutton's agreed price.
The player's position of strength has enabled him to sit tight but the deal hinges on Hutton changing his mind. That appears unlikely.
With time running out before Thursday's deadline, Smith does not want to be left in the position of having £12m at his disposal with no time to spend it. Buffel flew home from Germany last night, disappointed that his latest move has been thwarted. He had been linked with Hannover 96 last January but opted to undergo a knee operation instead in the hope he could revive his Rangers career.
Instead, he has made just three appearances this season and will now wait for fresh interest elsewhere in the next 48 hours.

rangers are set to sign him this mornin gunna pay him 1.3 million a year, city have accepted a 2.75 million bid, they are also late on in talks with luke moore over a 3 million pound bid, with cousin going to fulham. i would like to see samaras at celtic personally the boy is only just 22! has showed glipses of brilliance, just didnt suit citys play. he cost them 7 million at age 20! he must be a promising talent. stuart pearce reckons he has the capability to be the best target man on earth...

this was all up to date on trial football by the way

"* good in holland" is right....20 goals in 25 starts for heerenveen. will be a great buy, two years ago arsenal were desperate to sign him he cost man city near 7 million, hes still only 22. and we can steal him from under the scums noses! get him on loan and see how he does.

Very true mate but to many sacks in here who don't know football come straight out with a lot of pish . :bbpd::87:

Yes not too great at man city but as graham1888 says sutton had a bad season with chelsea and he went on to form the best partnership in scottish football .

I'm uncertain about this. If we sign him though, I hope it proves worthwhile.
