One of his best performances was in a back 3 against Motherwell away too, even though he was the right of a back 3 he seemed to think he was the right back and was charging up and down the wing the whole game :smiley-laughing002: im sure he nearly scored a couple of goals from getting into the box from there and had a couple of nice runs where he beat a few players.

I can see big Vic returning to CP this season, got a gut feeling we're going to get Spurs in the Groups.

No one accuse me of getting ahead of myself please. :icon_mrgreen:

When Wanyama first came into Celtic, I watched him from my seat during pre=match warm ups on more than one occasion working closely with both Johan and Dan Majstorovic on his touches, and presumably defensive work - he was definitely being primed for a central defensive position, until he was forced to be played in midfield, which he absolutely excelled in, and the rest was history.

Always remembered him getting made to challenge Majstorovic in the air at half time as well, to attack the ball. He didn't half learn that lesson quickly.

It's an intriguing move, I suspect he may play CB today while he might play in midfield in another friendly so that Brendan can figure out what his best position really is.

Yeah that too mate. As poor as big Majstorovic ended up being for us, he brought an excellent wealth of experience to our team, and guys like Wanyama ended up benefiting greatly from it!

Anyways, interesting to finally get a look at Ajer tonight - I'm intrigued as to see how he reads the game, and how he is in the tackle.

Big Maj was superb in his first season though. Won everything and dominated.

After that season he just lost the little pace he had and was pure *:56:

Clearing headers from set pieces will also be something to look out for if he is to become a potential CB.

Looked okay on the ball carrying it forward a couple of times, had one mistake, when he failed to connect with the ball making a clearance, but recovered well under pressure. All in all an okay debut.

I'm hopping him playing at centre half isn't a permanent thing
