Our financial wellbeing is reliant on qualifying for the CL (which we haven't done in 3 years) or selling our best player(s) each season.

    That's not great is it.

I don't think we need the money to survive but without it there will be zero signings...but given some of our failings that might not be so bad.:52:

Pure cowardice, but we all knew this was the case anyway, didn't we? Question is, what are we going to do about it? We know its not good enough - its certainly not the mentality of a winning football club, so what happens next? We need new guidance from top to bottom, in my opinion. Protests should start from today.

We need to start a movement to retake our club back from Desmond and Bankier. Maybe we could start a fan's buy out ?

Agree with this. Protests should start today. I would look to the Green Brigade being prominent in this.

As the OP has said, this board are already accepting mediocrity and that we won't be in the Champions League.

I say get rid of them, and get real Celtic supporters and investors in to run our club in alignment with our ambitions and dreams.

It is much better than all of us falling out amongst ourselves and fighting on the terraces and on the Celtic forums.

I'll get pelters for this no doubt, but why don't we tout the club to some American investors? They have the right kind of mentality - listen to guys that run sports teams there (Kroenke, aside) - they understand that running a sports club is not a game you get into for profit. You will never make money chasing dreams. Will we totally bankrupt ourselves seeking to qualify for the CL? No, of course not. We're not talking about winning it, we just want to be a part of it. Its not unprecedented - so why rule ourselves out before our name is even in the hat?

Absolutely no one is advocating spending all the money we generate in profit, are they?

What I was saying is that in the seasons where we did generate decent funds, such as the year we got to the last sixteen of the Champions League, and sold Wanyama, Hooper and Wilson we should have invested a bit more in the playing side of things, maintain the momentum.

We didn't though, we spend roughly the same every summer regardless of what we bring in via player sales or European football.

You would have more support than you think.
There is a billionaire in SF called Fisher, he owns GAP, and he expressed an interest in investing in Celtic before.
Maybe someone should sound him out to see if he is still interested ?

Bankier can go suck a *...

reckless? how many millions have we dicked away on non entities?

This board should be charged with wilful neglect of funds.

The positive though... its obvious that they're worried, announcing "profits", leaking "money spinning" sponsorship deals, Lawell's "crusade" against a super league.....

...all very convenient given our situation. Classic misdirection.

Bankier and the rest of the board can get tae *. and Dermot desmond needs a * slap 'roun' the chops.

Rich businessmen, American or otherwise, are more interested in broader markets such as the EPL.

What benefit to them is Celtic? Unless, like McCann, they have an emotional attachment to us.

What better market is there than regularly appearing in the CL? We are gifted with a near seamless entry into that competition every season. Hardly any other club in Europe has the advantage we have. And we all know what can be realised in Europe when you have the team clicking and the full Celtic support behind them.

That competition is only going to continue to grow, as well. Are we? Big question marks, at the minute, if this is the attitude we settle with.

So we wont go bankrupt chasing the champions league? But we will gradually fritter away every penny we have buying * players, hiring apprentice managers, and paying our big knobs in the boardroom ridiculous wages while downsizing our club and making champions league qualification a * pipe dream. Thanks for your help in * up our club Bankier.
