    Says who?

Didn't City only pay about £4 million for Roberts, the rest of the reported fee would end up being bonuses etc? If he has another terrific season we should make an offer of a few million and test the waters.

Money means nothing you have to remember to Man City though, even if we were to offer £10M the Sheikhs would laugh at that kind of money it's literally pennies to them.

Would love him here permanently though would be amazing. Still though, I deep down know he'll be back at Man City next year but I'm going to enjoy him while I can. So glad I've got a ST going to be a joy to watch this year.

Can't wait to see him play in Brendan's plans. He looked like one of the few players who seemed to attack under RD. Him and Wee MC Gregor. I hope he is also in our plans. He worked for it. Will be entertaining at least.

Talk of a permanent deal is pie in the sky stuff.

If we offered £20m City would still laugh in yer face. Their owner is worth £600bn.

He is a big part of English football's future and with Guardiola there as well now he will at least want a shot down there.

Very true, on the bright side it looks like we've got a good relationship with city and there'll be lots of players like Patrick Roberts in the future that they will want to loan out so hopefully we'll be first in line.

If he goes back down and fails big time (which I highly doubt) then we might get him a few year down the line.

However when you see guys like Sterling carving out very good careers and going for millions, it's hard not to imagine Roberts doing well for himself.

He seems to enjoy it here. Give him a year and more success then see how he feels about his City chances. Then all we can do is welcome him here if he doesn't think he'll get time at City

We've no chance. All we can hope is that our league is competitive enough, we reach the champion's league again and Roberts keeps improving (which is a given)..... Then maybe, just maybe, our good link's with City and Brendan can get him back for 1 more season on loan..

    'CELTIC FAVOURTIES FOR ROBERTS'

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has said his side could be the favoured club for Manchester City youngster Patrick Roberts if he chooses to leave the Premier League club in the future.

The winger is currently in the middle of an 18-month loan deal with the Scottish champions, and Rodgers believes the experience Roberts has with the club could stand them in good stead for the future.

"The loan does two things. It allows the player to buy into the team, commit and take on responsibility. Also, it’s a chance for us to sell the club. There might be a point down the line where he has to leave City," the former Liverpool manager told the Daily Record.

“If he’s had a good experience with us, we probably stand a greater chance of bringing him here on a permanent basis. If he has a good experience and plays well, he might just end up signing for the club at a later time.

“We know he will go back at the end of this season but he probably won’t have a better preparation than he will get at Celtic – in terms of how they’ll want him to play. Then we will see what the future brings for him.”
