Agree mate but our young lads will need to be outstanding from the get-go to secure any kind of run of games due to the excessive amount of midfielders which is unfair to these two in particular who given the opportunity have the potential to be great. Henderson perhaps has more of a chance as he is effectively a first re squad player now on par with McGreggor for example, but I fear for Nesbitt.

Would do them no harm to go out on loan for 2016-17 (Henderson to the SPL this time) and get a full season rather than a half dozen games between them over the next season.

Hope the lad is worth his place from the offset as him finding his feet in 12 months time is no good to us. Given he will have a minimum start requirement I just hope he is outstanding.

When Denayer came in would we rather his place was given to someone like O'Connell? If this lad improves us for 18 months then so be it.

That's true mate.. With regards to both..We'll see who is still here this time next year but loans until then would defo be beneficial.

With that attitude, we may as well just get rid of our youth system :31:

I can't believe we are doing this after the * with Denayer. Is this boy going to get game time before the likes of Allen & Christie? I know they 2 are not wide player but as stated, most midfielders at a young age get their game time on the wing before settling into their correct position.

At the end of the day the way I see it is if we signed a real superstar winger worth £12 million he might only be with us for 18 months max two years before someone met his valuation so this is good long term loans for quality aren't a bad thing just diddy 6-12 month loans are pointless unless just for cover

Course not. O'Connell isn't fit to lace Denayers boots, this isn't the case here.

In his instance we can't assume Roberts will be the far superior player. I know, I know, he's from the EPL and went for 12m are our lads are Scottish but Henderson and potentially Nesbit are two of the best prospects we have produced in a long time. They may now be on a position that regardless of what they do in training they will have to play second fiddle to a loan signing who (if man city have sense) will be guaranteed to have a minimum game starting clause. That's 1/5 midfield positions taken for this time and 1/2 of the most likely breakthrough positions for a young midfielder. Not to mention Johansen and Armstrong will play regardless of form.

Therefore in 18 months time, what we potentially have is Roberts is away with 70 odd games under his belt and we have a 20 year old Nesbit who has since never appeared for his club (3 min cameo last year yes) and 21 year old Henderson who has played a handful of times in a season.

There's no harm in competition but this signing says to be Nesbit isn't coming through, as why else would you sign a untried 18 year old winger on loan when you have an apparently top class prospect in this position training with the first team.

We are stock-piling midfielders with no real plan, to the detriment of what could be massive players and sell on fees from our own back garden.

City diddnt pay 12 million for him. Been quoted 4 million with add on. Probably if he make England debut they have pay more.
This guy isn't superstar and diddnt play much for old club before city signed him.

If they giving us Kelechi Iheanacho I be more excited.
Proven talent and not kid with talent.

Think we should ease expectations on him a little bit. He's not a superstar and a lot of that £12m was man city paying for his potential and inflation in the English market. Will definitely improve our team though :50:
