A table positioning can belie a clubs stature bud :smiley-laughing002:

Mølde are not a mid table Norwegian team the same as Chelsea arnt a bottom of the EPL team.

Nonsense. Football is all about "what have you done for me lately". Chelsea are one point ahead of the relegation zone. That is a fact. Just because their reputation precedes them does not change the fact that they could be in the relegation zone this weekend. Just because they have a fancy reputation doesnt make their points more valuable than other clubs. If they finish at the end of the season in the bottom three then they will be relegated despite their stature. The same way Molde finished their season as a mid table Norwegian side.

That isn't the full story though, Chelsea clearly have some of the best players in the league. There are a number of variables as to their poor results this season and you can't ignore that. They are where they deserve to be in the league based on results, nothing can change that, but they have the quality to be much higher up the league and that is his main point. If you're ignoring that it just suggests an inability to empathise with another person's perspective. Given your posting history (craic or not) it wouldn't surprise me.

(I have no idea why the sad face is at the top of my post, please ignore)

That poster took exception to me calling Molde a mid table Norwegian side despite the fact that they are.

He also brought up the Chelsea example. They wont be relegated but they will finish in mid table making them a mid table side for this season.

It does not matter anyway we should be pumping all Scandinavian sides nine times out of ten not getting beat by the sixth best Norwegian side nevermind their champions. It is that poster who is getting pedantic over my description of Modle as a mid table side when it is an accurate description. Even if they were the best side in Norway by some distance I would expect us to beat them.

Well I won't go round in circles about the semantics of how to describe teams, but Molde were impressive as an organised unit and for whatever reason, they couldn't repeat their feat of winning their league. That's irrelevant to us.

We didn't beat them due to a combination of poor tactics, poor defending and in my opinion, a complete lack of effort from our team. Anyway, I digress.

Some disparaging comments towards Molde. There not a brilliant side, but they are an intelligent side. Tactically they outclassed us.

They tore Fenerbache apart in Istanbul, who are much better side than us.Not going get bogged down in the Chelsea comparison as they will in all likelihood finish mid table, yet I could see them winning the Champions League.

Right now Chelsea are playing like a bottom of the EPL team and are very close to the relegation spots, just as Dortmund were for large periods last season. Form counts for a lot in football, I don't understand what's so hard to realise about that?

I totally agree I have been banging that drum for quite a while in fact I said in this very thread today that our problem is ultimately due to organisation before anything else or lack of organisation to be more precise.

I actually am impressed with Molde because as a mid table Norwegian side they topped our group because they were organised despite having more limited players. I dont see any reason why we could not have done the same thing. In Europe I think a pragmatic approach is the only show in town so fair play to them.

We should be beating the likes of Molde, I don't care what anyone says

Not when you're talking about the specific time that we play them if we rarely play them. When you're talking about when you played them then you talk about what they're like at that moment in time.

Do folk feel with a different manager, we would have topped that group?

Norways last season was won by Rosenberg. Henderson has a winners medal.

With the current squad, with a manager who knows how to defend, yes it was their for the taking.

I'm pretty confident even Roy Keane would have won us at least a game

It's funny how folk are mentioning that Modle won their league last year, like Norway is a top country to play football. What does that say about our league?

A team who is mid table in the Norwegian league cannot be considered a good side surely
