Maybe Tosh bumped his head and went back like 10 or 15 years and thinking we've signed Josip Simunic, the big Croatian who was a right good defender. :D

Bobo Balde couldn't pass the ball for *, he was still a very good CB. David Luiz is a great passer of the ball, I don't rate him much of a defender though.

Boyata is a great tackler and great in the air, he has very good defensive qualities and looks like a solid defender. He's not a ball playing defender though, that's not his job. Just because we had two defenders last season who loved having the ball at their feet doesn't mean that everyone who doesn't is crap, it just means they are a different type of player. It's really not hard to grasp and to suggest we've dne nothing to replace VVD and Denayer when we have brought in Jozo and Boyata is just talking pure pish.

I agree that Boyata has shown some good defensive qualities so far. Good in the air, strong in the tackle and quite brave.

Given time he could come good. With him, even though he is 24, it's effectively like chucking a teenager into the centre half position because of how little first team football he has had:56:

Don't think he's a particularly bad passer as well. Just not Van Dijk/Denayer good.

    Certainly Gary Caldwell good though.

I'm not so sure. I think Boyata has the ability, it's more a lack of concentration. Hopefully with some experience that will disappear.

It worked so well for Ambrose after all :fear:

NEW Bhoy Jozo Simunovic has tasted championship success with Dinamo Zagreb in Croatia, and now he wants to do the same at Celtic.
The towering defender was part of the Dinamo side that sealed its 10th league title in a row last season but he has set his sights on further silverware, this time in Scotland, after signing a five-year deal with the Hoops.
Ronny Deila’s champions are bidding for their fifth domestic league title in a row, with their eyes also firmly fixed on the two cups, and in an excluisve interview with the Celtic View, Simunovic said that he’s determined to maintain his winning streak when he joins up with his new team-mates.
“When I found out about the club wanting me I was really happy,” the defender said in his first interview with the official club magazine. “It’s the first time a club has come in for me and I feel in myself that I want to and can do really well for Celtic.

“I have been at Dinamo for nine years and I joined when I was very young. It was a great time for me because Dinamo is the best club in Croatia. We were champions every year so I want to continue to win lots of titles and that’s one of the reasons why I came here.
“I want to be a champion. I want to continue winning titles and be successful.
“I look on this as a great move for me. Celtic have watched me and they know what I can do and how I play so I'm just going to try to continue to do that.
“Every day I’ll try to rise up, learn and hopefully that’ll be good for me and the club.”

Ambiguous and mysterious in equal measure from Tosh.

Is he good at football or not? We don't need to know which type of luxury car he compares to :56:

As far as I'm concerned he's not signed unless I see him standing awkwardly next to Paul the tim with a scarf hanging aff his shoulder.

He was part of a decent Zageb defence last season, they didn't lose once in the league last season
