wanted athletico to win.dont think athletico are that boring as people are making out.quite enjoyed that final.maybe needin a bit more qaulity in attack as griezeman is there only natural goalscorer.

That's not fair tbh. No team has successfully defended the cup in the CL era, back in the 70s you had Bayern and Ajax winning 3IAR.

That's true, but I reckon anyone could comfortably predict 6 of the 8 teams in the Quarter-final pretty much every year.

 

At least Ajax had a chance of winning it back then. Or us. Or Nottingham Forest. Or Steaua Bucharest. Or Red Star Belgrade.

Nowadays you can pick the winner from 4-5 clubs before it even starts. It's how UEFA wants it. Boring.

Maybe recently aye but I think that'll change in the next few years if the likes of Man Utd and the Milan clubs get back on track.

Nah seriously I do get what you're saying, big clubs from lesser leagues did have more of a chance years ago. Don't think you can include Forest in that respect though, they were Champions of England at the time.

The likes of ourselves, Ajax, Red Star etc. have fell away because of one reason and one reason only... money.

It's stupid. The Champions League and it was won by the team that finished 2nd to qualify and the runner up finished 3rd to qualify.

 

Champions league my * *......cash league would be better name for it,its nothing to do with football anymore and just cheque books...bribes and tens of thousands of seats put aside for men in suits who only go to one game a year....
UEFA is rotten to the core.
