Is spending a few mill really going to cripple us?

We have been putting up with this * for so long that people actually dont care any more.

We needed a new face or two, someone to come in and do a job for our first team right away.

there must be players out there in the 3 4 million bracket who have at least shone in the EL in the last year or two.

    Agreed,

And as much as we would all like a "marquee" signing, it doesnt happen now.

Any one who expects otherwise is a fudmuppet.

I'm not saying it's a risk financially. I'm saying it's a risk putting someone JUST in the door on the pitch over a settled member of the squad who knows the system. That's always going to be a risk. Aye the new player might be amazing and shoot ilus into the CL. But equally he could be * and go missing in a game so important

    All seriousness, I agree.

We should have had a left back and possibly another striker in, maybe even another CB too.

Spend 4/5m then gain 20/25m from CL qualification.. Speculate to accumulate.

That shows a massive amount of naivety about our current financial standing on the footballing world. Even mediocre premier league players go for well above 4 million before you consider the fact that 30 grand a week is essentially minimum wage down south.

Players who have shone in the premier league are well into the tens of millions.

Aye. Wouldnt you agree that was a massive risk that many are uncomfortable with? !

Hence everyone calling for Griffiths to start on Wednesday

But... The other side of the coin, we will attract better calibre of player if we make the CL.

So signing before we make it would mean missing out on potentially better targets.

Sean, Ronny has already said he is a long term project bud; Ciftci is spl meat and veg.

No gamble there because he will score spl goals same way wee Griffiths does.

Only way we might be tempted to speculate is if we have qualified for the Champios League proper.

    Its a sound business plan.

Yeah, and that's why his fee would have been better spent on a player who has at least shown something on the European/International stage.

Someone who is a stick on to be better than what we have.

When we beat Qarabag we were guaranteed EL football, that is when we should have spent a few quid getting in players who have shone in the EL.

Is that Cifcti? Or Allan? No.

They might come good but all these projects are playing with * fire come Wednesday night.

If it was that simple we'd * do it. We aren't as big a draw as we used to be. Certainly not without CL guarenteed

There was a player a few years ago, scored a * load for some Israeli team in the EL. We were in the CL qualifiers at the time and instead of snapping him up we kept our powder dry until we knew what competition we were going to be in and ended up with Pukki instead.

That is all just my own opinion and might be absolute horseshit but it makes a * good point don't you think?

Players are out there playing for much smaller clubs than ours who are making a mark on the euripean stage.

We very rarely sign them, if ever.

When was the last time we signed a player that you could go look at his stats and say he has done the business even at EL level?

Are we really that * insignificant?

40,000 plus? One of the biggest attendances in Europe? After just buying a player who failed in England?

I'm surprised we get so many to be honest the way we are run.

We just make it up as we go along at this time of year.

Going into a CL play off with 3/4 of the DU forward line from last season who couldn't get it done themselves.

Worried * sick so I am.
