Having this kind of discussion in the Duffy thread as well, funnily enough.

It is easy to look at it like that from our average joe point of view. Only when you are in the position where someone puts a contract down in front of you to earn £50k, 60k + per week, will you know the answer.

Not including bonuses etc as well. Money talks. Tierney is still young and will have that innocence to him, once he is a few years older and realises how short a career this is his head could easily be turned. He's definitely still in that "Wow, I'm playing for Celtic" stage. Not saying he will ever lose that feeling however it might wear off slightly in years to come.

I don't think any one of us can guarantee anything right now about his future. Lets just wait and see.

I think its pretty simple, If I'm offered 30k more elsewhere than at Celtic, I choose Celtic every time.

For me there's a big difference in the level of enjoyment I would get in scoring for Celtic or scoring for some no mark English team. KT is a loyal guy, you see what he does for his local club and the loyalty he shows to them.

Live your career being a 1 club man, captaining and becoming a legend for life or just be another footballer who played for Celtic at one point. Is his choice, he needs to make the decision of how he wants to be remembered.

That's not true though is it.

If I'm offered 1k at Celtic but 31k elsewhere I'm gone.

Anything above 15k though and I wouldn't leave. How much money do you really need?

Use your wage to invest in some properties and you are set for life. Free to become a Celtic legend.

That's a silly comparison though, in no world are you going be offered 1k at Celtic and 30k elsewhere.

It's easy to say on a Celtic forum fucksake but if I was at Celtic on 15 grand a week, I'd not move for double somewhere else. I really don't think I would..

It's hardly Monaco price's in Glasgow and around the central belt. I think I'd scrape by alright..

I consider all of us on here are good tims I would give anything to play for Celtic for absoloutley * all or atleast take a standard wage that could make me and my family live... The boy is a * Celtic die hard any move would be the boards move IMO and even at that KT doesn't need to accept it

    Indeed :smiley-laughing002::smiley-laughing002::smiley-laughing002:

That's not even taking into account bonuses, sponsorship etc etc.

KT loves the Celtic, he will not have his lovely head swayed any time soon - but if in the distant future he wished for a crack at say Barcelona, 'Juventus or MAn Utd, then I would champion him the move if we make a cool £20m profit.

Agreed. Think he has his head firmly screwed on.

He reminds me of Ryan gauld in terms of attitude. Knows his ability and what he wants from his career. Head down and work hard at celtic and he will have a superb career with chances later in life to move to a 'big' club after being a club legend for us.
Gauld knew at united he was better and needed to move abroad to develop his game, he knew his style of football wouldn't be allowed to be properly developed in Britain and was actually quite proactive in wanting a move abroad. Think he picked one of the best clubs to go to for that. Will/has it worked out? Who knows yet.

But think Tierney is the same, but for us he knows his game is fitting for us and can be developed fully here.

Certainly would love to see us be active in encouraging him to stay though, the new 5 year contract is good, but lets get him on to another extended deal in a couple years again instead of letting it run down to the final season.

With Gauld it was different aye, and tbh I couldnae even tell you how he's getting on or if the move was a good yin.

Wee Tierney is living the dream of every single young lad growing up as a Celtic supporter. He is 18/19 years of age. Has solidified the left back position as his own. He has won domestic trophies and has competed in Europe, and will hopefully continue to do so this season. He has also broken into the Scotland scene.

Life is good for this young man, and his comments about his love for the club are nothing short of heart-warming.

I love him. And I love this thread :shamrock::shamrock::shamrock:

Mind only 6 months ago some folk on here were saying that he bottles it and always boots the ball of the park to no one :smiley-laughing002:

Just shows you its best to completely ignore a lot of posters assessment of players on here.

He did go through a period of defending well but just hoofing it up the park.

In hindsight it was more Armstrong never showing for the ball when KT had it.

He is definitely getting up the park a lot smarter these days. His cutbacks are becoming a feature of is wing play.
