I think GMS is a goner, mate. Armstrong has shown far more than him and even he's living on borrowed time IMO.

Not for me. GMS has scored and created more goals than Armstrong.

Don't think GMS will last much longer here but if Rodgers can get Forrest firing, then I think he can also get more out of Mackay-Steven.

His problem has always been his fitness imo.

If he can keep fit he will be class for us. I still wouldn't have him in the starting 11 but hes a good player to have.

Brendan is a clever guy, he knows the importance of good man management in order to get the best out of players, and in turn make his own job a lot easier.

When Forrest gets the heid down and runs at players he is a very effective guy to have on your side.

He hasn't done it often enough and I think Rodgers is finally just telling him to go out there and take people on. It is what he is best at. He isn't as flashy a winger as a McGeady for example and doesn't have the shooting ability of Roberts or Sinclair when cutting inside, but he gives us sheer pace and directness. So many times over the years he has failed to play to his strengths.

I've been a big critic of him for years but on this form he is a good player to have in the squad, at least. I'd happily eat my words just to see him have a quality season, as would most I bet.

He still has potential though, under Rodgers he could pull it back but its down to what Brendan sees

SOME of James Forrest’s fondest memories as a Celtic player have been created in the UEFA Champions League, and the Hoops winger is desperate to make some more.
The 25-year-old joined the club at the age of nine and graduated through the ranks of the Youth Academy to become a first-team star under Neil Lennon.
The Prestwick-born playmaker has now committed his future to the Scottish champions under another Irishman, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers, keeping him at the club until 2019, and with a chance of another crack at the Champions League on the horizon with next week’s play-off first-leg, the winger said he is keen to forge some new moments of magic for the club.
“I’ve been here since I was nine and it’s crazy thinking I’ve been here for so long, but I’ve signed another three or four years and I’m delighted with that,” he said. “I’ll just take every year as it comes.
“It’s a top club, one of the best in the world and any player would be privileged to play here. I’m glad to have come through from the youths and I’ve played a lot of games with the first-team, so I just want to play as many games as I can for the club.
“It will be hard games against Hapoel Be'er Sheva so we just need to focus, try to get a couple of good results and get into the Champions League.”
Celtic were paired with Israeli champions Hapoel Be’er Sheva in the play-off round of the Champions League qualifiers, with the first-leg of their double header taking place at Paradise next Wednesday, August 17.
Forrest knows what it takes to get through this round and into the group stages, having scored the winner against Shakhter Karagandy in a 3-2 aggregate victory at the same stage at Celtic Park in 2013, and he believes the current crop of Hoops players can replicated that feat.
“It was a great night,” he said. “We lost 2-0 away from home but we came back and won 3-0 at home. It was a great night for the club and it was the last time we were in the group stages. so it’d be great to have another impact and be back in the Champions League again.
“To score the winner to get into the Champions League for Celtic - there’s not much better. We’ve not been in it the last couple of years but we’ve got the chance with the two games coming up to rectify that. That’s what everybody here at the club wants – to be back in the Champions League.”
Prior to next week’s clash, the Hoops will renew one of their most famous rivalries when they face up to Inter Milan in the International Champions Cup on Saturday in Limerick, and Forrest insists the Hoops are focused on putting in a good performance against the Italian giants.
“It’s still part of pre-season,” he said. “It’ll be our last friendly so the boys will still be trying to get fitness and we’re looking forward to it. Every game you go out and give as much as you can get out it for fitness, so it’ll be good for the competitive games.”

I've been thinking for the last 6 months or so Forrest is on par with Liam Miller for the biggest wasted potential through our youth team. I think it's still far too early to judge if this attitude will keep up with him but I'm starting tonhave some doubts that he is as big of a lost cause as I thought.

He is talented and if he keeps getting involved in ganes like he has, instead of hiding, then I'll be happy. It's never been a question of ability for me. It's been of attitude and it's been some upturn recently.

Even when he was playing brilliantly at the start of last season, it wasn't the same sort of application. I think Brendan must think he can consistently get that out of him.

Brendan has had an amazing effect on him. He's got a completely new attitude on the pitch, he's chipping in all over the park and it's very good to see.

Wee Jamesy with the CL trophy aloft.

I've got a feeling we'll be seeing this again come May.

Personally I am delighted he is staying. He has obviously never really fulfilled his potential. But if there was ever a time he may do just that it would be under Rodgers over the next few years and his form so far this season is very encouraging.

    People here have short memories.

Couple of decent games means * all. His attitude is disgusting. In the papers again saying how it was all Ronny's fault.
